Wrong, easily debunked. Where does your number come from, verifiable source please?
NB the UK figure doesn't include deaths outside of hospitals.

Now is the time for scrutiny and criticism. There's other pressing business for parliament, not least an extension to the brexit negotiations.
Companies, institutions and individuals acting in self interest to the detriment of those who are least able to cope need calling to account now.

I think they are doing the best they can in the circumstances. Mistakes have been made and will continue to be, but if Parliament were sitting now, I expect the tone from the opposition to be reasonably supportive for now.

Hysteria rarely helps anyone, but it’s most inappropriate in times of crisis.

I don’t watch the briefings as there is usually too much waffle and I prefer to rely on a number of sensible people to post the most salient points, with a link to a short video confirming that their post is based on accuracy.
What I have read, about the questions raised at the briefings, is that the reporter’s microphone is switched off as soon as their question has been asked.
If that is true, then there is no opportunity for the reporter to challenge the response, so the MP and/or experts are getting a free hit and are able to put whatever spin they like, on the answer, knowing that it won’t be immediately challenged or debunked.

I feel uneasy with that inability to challenge an answer. I'm hoping that some form of parliament is working soon, it'll be interesting to see how Keir Stammer performs.

Sir Keir paraphrasing Bob Dylan there - “he who is first shall later be last, for the times they are a changing” <ok>

As I said, there will be a reckoning, when this is over.

Must be at public inquiry level at least. Not a phrase I'm fond of, I've had to make a few "lessons to be learnt" reports over the years. Certainly need that but if previous government's actions are anything to go by it'll be lip service. Funding the necessary investment in public services in particular the NHS will be problem.

I've said it before, I am not for recriminations now...let's get this done and not hold the post mortem (probably a bad turn of phrase) after the situation is over or under control.

I work in IT as you may all know and when **** hits the fan, we all know that there is no point in pointing the finger "you should have backed up" "you shouldn't have pressed that" until after we have fixed it. Fix it now then haul them all up to answer why it happened.

I am not a tory apologiser in any way and yes 10 years of austerity have led us to where we are, but we are where we are - unless there is a Delorean parked outside and I can use it as a legitimate essential journey to hit 88 miles an hour and go back to the future to change things.

The government will always have been able to do better and they will keep changing their minds on how to deal with it - it is a fluid situation and unprecedented so they have no real point of reference or history to look back on. There are so many variables to compare us with other countries that it is hard to do so.

I say let's just get it over with - then we can oust Boris & his cronies if needed.

Ok, I have stepped down from the soap box I borrowed from @fatletiss :)

Constructive criticism is always needed. Identifying the guilty and protecting the innocent can wait.

Agreed, but I also feel we need to get through this, then crucify those at hand. I also agree we need a parliament to debate and criticise - that is so important as it will hopefully put the country on the right path for all, not just a few.

Saving lives now IMO is what it is about - not that the economy will tank. As long as there are people left, then we can get through it.

This may be easy to say, but I am not going to worry about tomorrow whilst there is a lot to be done today.

I know who I hold accountable for a lot of the mistakes, and I will do my best to make sure they get what is coming to them after this is over.

Constructive criticism will only be achieved once we have a full parliament sitting and debating and also once the press stop with the outrageous stories and stick to facts IMO.

EDIT: All this doesn't apply to Trump. He is wrong, he is stupid.

Doctor on Ch4 news saying 70 year olds are not necessarily at huge risk if fit. I have been walking about 7 miles every day. Try and keep fit chaps. I carry a bit of extra timber myself, not Boris or Trump amounts but this is an opportunity to shed a bit and eat more healthily. Lecture over!

Holy ****. I'm not often lost for words, but a president acting the way he does has me gobsmacked. He has lost the plot.

I'm not sure, but I think even staunch Republicans will shake their heads in disbelief at tonight.

I cant get over it.. he's using time and tax money to make propaganda videos of how great he is and playing it to the nation.

    During a global pandemic.

Its breathtakingly crazy. I'm not comparing his political views to Hitler, but this certainly had elements of the way Hitler used the media during his early career.
