Again just goes to show how poorly organised and **** out of the starting blocks we are! I get the feeling that getting rid of the elderly, disabled and most vulnerable is actually the plan of action.
I understand that but it doesn't actually help people. What finglas describes helps people straight away not 3 months after they have ran out of money.Delays in support payments are frustrating but this is a MASSIVE admin exercise
Govt will need more resource which needs to be trained, provided with IT equipment etc etc
This isn't just push a button and the cash appears!
Necessary financial controls need to be in place to ensure that the right amounts are paid at the right time to the right people
I for one wouldn't want to be responsible for setting this up and I'm a pretty methodical accountant who's project managed many a large system implementation, corporate acquisition eye
Remember also that while the politicians set broad policy it is the Civil Service and similar bodies that have to implement
Employers keep paying employees and recover the money from the govt I believeI understand that but it doesn't actually help people. What finglas describes helps people straight away not 3 months after they have ran out of money.
Some I know have laid people off due to not having the money to pay them. That relief has not even started yet! Self employed only have another 8 or 9 weeks to survive off absolutely nothing!Employers keep paying employees and recover the money from the govt I believe
There is a push button in Ireland and the USA though, cash to individuals. How come they can do it so quickly?Delays in support payments are frustrating but this is a MASSIVE admin exercise

That's why I asked the question earlier in the thread. Are any of these schemes actually up and running yet? Why do we lag behind everyone? Why do we just keep repeating the same daily ****e. If they truly want to stop the spread of this disease then pay people now not to go out and work. Stop people now from doing what they like when they ****ing like. Lockdown properly ffsThe tricky sector is the self employed
I'm not sure the govt has got that quite right but again hugely complicated and open to abuse
No self interest for me - I'm not entitled to anything under any scheme announced to date
Complexities that other countries dont appear to haveI'm not defending the schemes themselves...merely pointing out the complexities which seem to have passed many members of the wider population by
Course you can Jeff. Feel free to add anything anytime. Can I interrupt the Bob Show & say that Boris in now out of intensive care & on the road to recovery, good news
Out of interest, which countries' residents have actually received cash support so far?Complexities that other countries dont appear to have

I’m going to get grief for this, but my pleasant experience was at Waitrose.
Didn't finglas just say Ireland.Out of interest, which countries' residents have actually received cash support so far?
