EDIT: oh and Ahmed, the bloke who owns @A.L.D.O 4.1 local offy for hiking the prices of whatever his latest tipple is these days. He's going on my Christmas Card list <laugh>[/QUOTE ]

Tbh mate, I’m backing Ahmed on this. Man has a family to feed, and he isn’t forcing @A.L.D.O 4.1 to drink Albanian vodka by the litre during these difficult times. I’m all for the enterprising small trader who can’t afford to operate on the same margins as the supermarkets.

I wouldn’t blame him if he boosted his mark up on cigs as well. Need to know the bogroll situation though; overcharging for that that would be ruthless profiteering.

I'm fully backing Ahmed too for the same reason. I also imagine him as the bloke off 'Still Game' who is boss.

I go to a local grocer for certain stuff (usually once every couple of weeks) - big bags of rice, flour, oil, fruit, veg, spices etc. I went there a couple of days ago and noticed two things - firstly shelves for certain foods were near empty and secondly a definite increase in my shop by about £20 so I spoke with the owner. I told him I'd been shopping there for years and questioned how at this time when everyone is struggling in terms of jobs and finances, he's putting his prices up.

He told me that knowing he had regular customers who he valued he would never want to increase prices, but he's basically over a barrel with suppliers. He gave me examples where the supplier is giving the price and he has to either like it or lump it, because if he doesn't take the stock there's an endless line of retailers who will.

Here's the fun part, some suppliers were saying to him - this is how much your usual supply will cost and if I were you, I'd get your next order in now because we may not have it again for 3 weeks. So in the end his outlay is being hit twice.

Saints the first team* to announce a wage cut to players to support staff.

Might buy a Southampton shirt just to show support of that decision.

* I haven't bothered to google that, but can't recall another prem team doing it.

Not quite what it seems. They’ve agreed to a part wage deferral, not a cut.

Henderson on his personal PR initiative whilst trying to save PL footballers a few bob.

PFA must be foaming at the mouth. They are extremely proud of their voluntary NHS donations, which has just neen snatched away.

I don't know enough about that side of the PFA, but in terms of the PL players I think a piece of paper with very little detail is what I kind of expected.

Maitlis absolutely nails the current bullshit rhetoric

She's bang on (also bangable, bonus!) ... many of the carers at the home my mother-in-law is in down in South Wales are on minimum wage and don't have proper PPE ... yet they are going in every day. Got 3 suspected cases in the home - yet to be confirmed. Our old girl is partially paralysed after a burst in a double aneurysm and is asthmatic... and she is one of the healthier inmates tbf <yikes> ... still got her marbles. Government seem to be treating carers as potentially acceptable collateral damage ... <grr>

Newspaper headline

‘No end in sight’

first line says 3 more weeks isolation minimum

That’s not ‘no end in sight’

just a slow process...the impatience

stupid ****Z

Avoid the newspapers mate, and don’t click on any of their bullshit headlines online either. Sensationalist bullshit.

Half hour of Auntie Beeb a day will tell you all you want to know, but even they pissed me off yesterday evening with their forced solemnity.

Hardly the players and senior management agreeing to lose out on anything either is it?

The key point is that non playing staff are not missing out <ok>

And can you lift @saints for the win’s ban please. The anti SFC bias on this forum is no laughing matter, I might have to form a Union here and demand talks with management
