There's a liberal approach to moderation on here, unless someone is racist, abusive, threatening etc, or just post things that are generally to the detriment of this board, then they are allowed to post their opinions, however daft they seem to the majority. I understand that this particular poster was abused as a child, so I give him extra leeway.
To be fair his comments about Pearson on here have overstepped the mark a bit, just seems a bit like hateful personal abuse. I've never seen him make a sensible argument as to why Pearson isn't a great manager for us, it's more like childish name-calling which is a bit sad.
Having listened to the interview on the link posted here, there was nothing wrong with NP's tone towards Burnsey. I find comfort in the fact NP actually cares we did'nt win the game and come across in the interview as been very passionate. UTT
What ? Reading through the comments on here,i thought Nigel had been a right ignorant nob. Then charliej18 helpfully gives us this, and i honestly don't know what people are moaning about. Iv'e listened twice and the ignorant pig stuff just isn't there. It seems some people just don't like the guy. There isn't even a hint of bad feeling towards Burnsy, and im sure Burnsy himself, wouldn't know what people are talking about. Nigel Pearsons amber & black army !
One would asume then that a lot of Manchester United fans must feel about Fergie. He is also arrogant but a very good manager. Personally I couldnt care less how a manager deals with the media as it does not affect me in the slightest. Its how he deals with the team to ensure winning ways that matter.
Percy doesn't really have any opinions though mate. He doesn't even mean the things he says. It's just to get a bite from people !
You might want to read the rest of the post Charlie . For the record I rate Pearson and his management team very highly and always have .
please log in to view this image With some of the stuff he comes out with I'm not surprised he was abused as a child!!!!!
We all know that NP does not enjoy the media side of the job, and in fairness it's not what he's paid for. I much prefer to see his team doing the talking for him on the field. Just don't expect to see him as a panellist on 'A Question Of Sport', would give Sue Barker short shift with some of her stupid questions.
well said. some people obviously have an agenda, good luck to them. i dont always agree with everything he says or does but he's our manager end of.
What a fuss about nothing. Been wanting NP to show some real bollocks for a long time now; when you are a bit wound up by a game/officials etc (as fans are) nothing wrong with showing it; ask Fergy. Burnsie getting well paid for his part anyway. More of it Nigel; get stupid insipid questions, give some stick to the world.
at the end of the day if Pearson gets us promoted - will it actually matter what he says in interviews to a local radio interviewer. If Mr Burns was a talent in local radio, would he not be being poached by Radio 5 or Talksport. And wouldn't we all love to get promoted just to shut up the little half-wit called Percy/McleanForEngland/IReallyFancyBullardandDuffen
Question of Sport.. Sue Barker: How do you feel after guiding Hull City back to the PL as champions? NP: Very pleased.. Sue: So, Nigel, what happens next? NP: You know me, I'm not one for predicting.. Sue: But you must have an idea? NP: No. You can watch the weekly update on the website Sue..
A straight talking bloke who tells it like it is. maybe the officials WERE crap. I know I felt crap when we let 2 points slip through our fingers. We've had media darlings in charge in the past and look where that nearly got us. More power Nige.
I totally agree. I know sometimes Pearson can be a bit defensive when interviewed but this time he seemed fine. He was making the point that immediately after the game he doesn't know too much and the medical staff have to assess it and then the info will be released on Player. The players seem to have a lot of respect for Pearson - both as a football man and a person - everybody who knows him says he's got a good sense of humour.
I am firmly with those who think there was nothing wrong with the interview. I first heard it yesterday and it sounded like two old palls having a laugh at the end. One thing though I have never understood why journalists when they only have a small time for an interview ask questions that the manager cannot answer or he knows he will not answer. The injuries question was a question he could not answer and he is often asked in a roundabout manner for his team "any changes Nigel". Another example from a few weeks ago was why did you substitute Brady. Pearson answered correctly the player will be told first. We the fans want information and wasting time asking such questions short changes us just in an attempt to build the journalists ego and claim an exclusive. There are many questions that they could ask that would be answered and we would be better informed. In short the journalists should think first of their listeners or readers.
IMHO all great managers have a hard, even arrogant edge, about them. I can't think of a single "great manager" that was a lovely cuddly pudding. Personally I dislike Ferguson and his personality but I can see what a terrific manager he is ( in previous seasons I would have included Wenger in this but am rather enjoying his fall from grace!) I think NP has that edge that could make him a great manager. I don't think this makes him arrogant or ignorant. I actually rather enjoy his crossing swords and regularly slashing Burnsey to pieces.
