If you’re talking about footballers, then yes I believe they should also be taking cuts.
kiwi fruits … should they take a pay cut then every £100 they give back costs the government £40 or more.
IF THINGS ARE THOUGHT THROUGH.... then they should donate 20% of their money to NHS charity …………… indirectly this could help the government and the people with funds toward future hospital /s equipment etc …

I'm just a retired old lag and was enjoying things until this nightmare came along
this is a double whammy for me maybe even moreso …. lost the whole of last summer not being able to take the kids out enjoy the sun etc etc ..just got back to doing 3 trips in a week underground building up for the big one and a energetic couple of weeks in the NW Highlands and C R A S H..... stay indoors... spend about 50 mins a day on a walk currently about 2.3 miles carrying 4 kgs … target 10 kgs .. now got the route with maximum height gain all of 50m!!! used to 6 or 7 times that …. oh well lets go have a cup of tea and bikky in the garden …..

Can you believe the new ExCel hospital owned by an Abu Dhabi company, is charging the government £2m-£3m a month.

Contrast the NEC in Birmingham, owned by the Americans, is providing it rent free for as long as is required.

hopefully then if any of them need to use it we charge them £50m a day … declare a national emergency and take it over for free

Working from home, semi-shocked I'm still in a job even though we're really busy. Just trying to make the most of it really.

Also echo the sentiment toward Boris. The sooner he's better the sooner he can get back into sorting this mess out. Don't agree with everything he's said or done but also don't wish ill health on him at all.

Can't stand Piers Morgan but think he's got it right about Liverpool and the like using taxpayer's money to pay their non playing staff.
Apparently a club like West Brom are taking a different approach.
Anyone aware what's happening at City?

I'm glad that Calderwood finally had the grace to quit after being a total idiot and hypocrite.

It was just a shame that Knickerless Virgin backed her and didn't sack her first when she had the opportunity !

And as for Kyle Walker, another great example of the arrogance of some Premiership players.

This suggests that City are doing exactly the same as Liverpool etc! If that truly is the case, I would be extremely disappointed, not only in the club as a whole, but Steve Lansdown as an individual.

I do believe that football clubs have to be very careful that they should be seen to be doing the right thing; for years they have taken the support of their fans for granted and, for want of a better phrase, have gotten away with it. But these are now different times - there are many people out there who will see this as a "taking the piss" situation and will happily spend their money in a totally different way once this is over and done with.

Very VERY disappointing if true of us.
More so the Premiership teams like the Scousers, Newcastle (but who is surprised at them being one of them?), Spurs etc but even so.

I don't understand why people are disappointed with City furloughing their staff? These staff are still being paid. City make huge losses every year so why shouldn't they take advantage of this scheme like other firms are?

It just doesn’t sit well when they are paying the players in full, it remains to be seen , but at present I hope the one good thing to come out of this mess is that the whole world reassess the different standards applied to highly paid and those at the bottom. Ideally a major levelling off will be occur , either voluntarily or at least by popular demand.

besides the losses are not as a result of paying the ones that are being furloughed , it’s due to the money paid to the players. Why should they be the ones to suffer when the players are not. Can you still not why people are upset ?

But the furloughed staff are still being paid in full as well.

So you think it’s ok to pay one section of your staff their full salary of thousands of pounds a week, and expect the rest of us to pick up the tab for the others ?
Isn't that what other firms are doing? City lose money every year. It would be different if we were making a profit.
