But why should the players take a cut when they don't need too? And don't forget they pay taxes too. In your scenario the other staff would get full wages and the players won't. The players have living expenses and commitments too. Yes they get a good wage but a player with a young family and a mortgage still has bills to pay and probably as has less disposable income than a player who is single. If a player wants to voluntary give up a %age or make a donation to help then fair play to them but I don't think that it should be forced on them across the board . I think footballers are being scapegoated at the moment and are an easy target.
But it’s ok to force it on the lower earners that have been furloughed, or at least expect us to pay for it, when many of us have also been furloughed, taken a cut in pay or lost our jobs altogether.
Even at championship level the players on earning thousands of pounds a week, obviously everyone lives to their means, but clearly they are more able to take a small % cut than the average fan, lower paid club worker. We all have to pull together if they can’t see a way to help the lower paid workers at the club it doesn’t show them in a very good light as individuals.

But the people that are being furloughed are not having a cut in pay that's the whole point and what do you mean by we? Everyone pays taxes including footballers
By We I mean the general public, many of which are not well of at all.
statistics show the lower earners in society on the whole are being hit hardest by this awful situation.
On a human level surely the players should want to do what they can to help the lower paid workers at the club.
several well known PL managers have offered to take pay cuts , along with F1 senior management figures, I think your way of thinking is pre virus , I hope once it’s all over it’s relegated to the past .
I'm not denying this but there are a lot of others in society who could be doing the same thing and earn a lot more than footballers
Absolutely agree with this point, they need to be called out too, name and shame maybe
they are often heads of large companies, if we all boycott their companies until they cooperate, Just a thought , pressure can be applied if we are so minded.
Directors in my company took a 25% cut before they furloughed the staff. We’ve furloughed 4,000 staff so far. And shut down 70% of our sites.

its amazing how threads drift like a spiders web on a calm breezy day .. started on the City crest!
note outdoor spiders use their webs for around a day or so and constantly re build .. whilst having my dinner on the patio on a balmy sunny day last year watched a small spider from the start of its task .. from the corner of my eye saw it drop a couple of feet from 1 cotoneaster twig to another it then climbed back to the top then periodically used the breeze and careful positioning to weave a web …. saw no activity after bout 3 hours … next day it had trapped a few morsels including a midge like fly about 10 times its own size …… that it was devouring or wrapping for later ….

If that happens it won't be a 'fat cat' like Chelsea, but someone like an Accrington Stanley will go to the wall.
Football has lived way beyond it's means for several decades and a reality check of the obscene amounts of money in the game need to be carefully looked at when this mess is over.
Just heard that a neighbour of ours unfortunately died from COVID-19 in the BRI on Monday evening.
And Marvin Rees has recently received a juicy salary rise. I am a key worker in social care. I have received no comparable (%) rise in salary to Marvin Rees in ten years.
Why do we even need a political Mayor in Bristol ?? !!!
Let alone Rees who is only out to line his own pockets and by all accounts is a nasty piece of work.
Having a Ceremonial Mayor I have no objection to btw.
