I think today's match showed why NA paid nearly £2,000,000 for Danny Fox. He has got a magician's wand of a left foot and his service from the left (and dead balls) will create several goals this season. I've nothing against Dan Harding or Ryan Dickson, but Fox is just a bit classier IMO.
I agree, I thought he played very well today. He is improving every week and defended very well today. He will also get a lot of assists this season with his delivery. I thought we defended very well for most of the game apart for one lapse of concentration for their goal. First half, we couldn't string two passes together but Chaplow and Schneiderlin made a big difference in the second half. Overall, a good point but as Adkins said, we had enough chances to win the game.
Well if he keeps playing well, he'll stay in the team. If not, he'll drop back to the bench when Harding is fit. It's as simple as that.
Still ccaught out of position a fair bit though, definetely needs to work on that but other than that he had a good game today by sounds of it
If Adkins helps him sort his positioning out (his recovering challenges are superb, I should add, and get him out of trouble regularly) then he will be a superb player. Great going forward I agree with you. Has a wicked cross on him and a fair bit of pace.
I read the above in total seriousness. Then I got to the last sentence and tried my damnest to keep a straight face. And I couldn't do it. You've got to love Adkinisms.
People judged Fox too quickly. Burnley were sorry to lose him which tells you something...did you see him poking a cheeky tongue out at a former teammate on the OS gallery? Adkins will get the best out of him, then we can judge.
Guilty as charged. Now starting on my second helping of humble pie. I thought he was excellent today and poses a much greater threat than Dan Harding, a player I do like so this is not simply an observation from an anti-Harding gang member. And wasn't Morgan good today? How long can Hammond keep him out of the team. Morgan est incroyable, ca c'est sur!
Fran you are right, and it is frustrating, but typical of Saints fans. You read so much where we jump on people's backs too quickly. Anyone who understands or has played a half decent level of football can see Fox is a quality player. He has played three games and even the very best footballers in the world take time to adjust to their new team. He will be a very good signing.
What made me cross as well is that people then used the signing of Fox to criticise NA and his ability to select and sign good players.
9 times out of 10 Richardsons pin point cross on to Lambos head would have been a goal, Rickie put just a little too much Ooomph on it, hit the bar and bounced out. How much better did we play in the second half? It was definitely a case of unlucky not to win rather than lucky not to lose.
I am sure NA will study recent Cardiff games and then decide which would be the most effective starting midfield combination, if it is not effective, he will switch at the right opportunity, few teams have the strength in depth that we have in that department.
Wasn't at the game so don't know how he played but it seemed he played well, glad he's stuck 2 fingers up to the people on here who was ripping him apart after one whole game! To me he should stay in the team now,Harding and dickson will be good back up.
While guilty of wondering about him, I think to say that people "ripped him apart" is a bit strong. The issue was that Harding had started well and some of us wondered whether Fox was an improvement. I think this is called debate not "ripping people apart" and is the purpose of the forum. As for the comment about Nigel Adkins, I did post the question asked of NA's skill and experience in the transfer market, but again only as a genuine attempt to promote healthy debate. I am an Adkins fan, if you read the post it is quite evident.
Ummmm no,there were a few on here and elsewhere that weren't just debating and asking the question whether he was good enough, they were saying he's total rubbish and why the hell did we spend the money on him when harding's playing well. When is it a debate when people are calling him rubbish after seeing him play his first game? it was pathetic to call someone rubbish after one game and even more pathetic when you realise he actually played well in that first game.I agree everyone's allowed their opinion and it's good to debate but surely you can see that it wasn't a debate, just a few people jumping on the guys back after one game, maybe if it was after 10 games and he'd been poor in all those games but seriously? one game? did he deserve that?
We don't actually know what the problem was with Dan Harding, was it possibly a minor op that needed doing, so NA knowing this got Fox in to take his place. It was a pity that early doors people were criticising him before he had a chance to fit in, same for Hoover, first game, people were on the Forums with scathing comments about his headed clearances e.t.c. but surely he was ring rusty and didn't know any of his team mates, hardly condusive to a first class performance in the early games, however he is showing good awareness and is improving with every game. Fair enough, air your opinions, but at least be patient and give new guys a chance, it will soon become apparent if they are not going to cut the mustard, but you should, on recent experience, put some trust in NA and NC. If things start to go pear shaped, I will be here with my opinions, but hopefully not unfairly slagging off for the sake of it.
That is my point, we didn't know, same goes for Barny, he has had something done or he would have been back much sooner.
Agree with this. Superb crosser but the last few games, his positioning at LB has shades of Harding at times. Giving the right-winger too much room can cause dangerous consequences. I'm sure Nigel would have spotted this though.
