Negative reporting on the clubs request that players take a 20% pay cut as a result of the lost revenue because of the coronavirus outbreak. Thrown in for good measure this weekend is the rehashed bollocks about football hooligans rampaging through the streets of Hull...…...40 odd years ago, citing the leader as Sinbad who to my knowledge never went to a City game in his life.
Meanwhile two weeks ago when Adam Pearson announced exactly the same measures for Hull FC they headlined that it was good news adding favourable comments from the club captain etc etc and how necessary and sensible it was.
No added 'derby day pitch invasions' etc to add a bit of meat to the story either.

Why is ours 'unsavoury' but an identical request in the same city, in the same economic climate, to a club playing from the same stadium, but a different sport granted, reported on as being sensible and reasonable with favourable comments from the club captain to back it up ?
I also don't see why they have to drag out the 'football hooligans rampaging through the streets of Hull' piece out yet again, what's news worthy about that ?
The senior Tigers donated a five figure sum to the NHS last week, did you see that reported in the HDM ?

My point it, and is often shouted down on here, that two clubs operating in the same city, playing from the same stadium, although different sports but in the same economic climate meaning both are trying to attract support, sponsorship and so on. Yet football often gets the ****ty end of the stick whilst everything RL do is reported on as being squeaky clean, good for the environment, wholesome family fun and great entertainment/value compared to football. This highlights exactly my point. Adam Pearson request to his players/staff is sensible and reasonable in the circumstance yet two weeks later Ehab make the same request and it's 'unsavoury'.

This is at least the third thread you’ve started about how **** the HDM is, **** knows why you’re still buying it.

But the fact that UP has posted three times (with justification) about the same subject, may make you think what is the silly old bugger on about now.
You might then look at what he is on about and find that everything he says is factually correct. Not heard from a mate, or a man in a taxi etc but from the local paper that reports on YOUR club i.e. Hull City.
Are you really content that the paper reports so negatively about City? OK the pay cut request stinks (typical Allam stunt) but is comparable to other clubs. But the links in the article about City violence - why?
No links in rugby reports about the Huddersfield semi final televised barney, Rovers v Salford in the million pound challenge (or whatever), various FC v Rovers matches marred by violence.

The paper that reports about YOUR club is a ****ing disgrace and should be shown to be so, as UP has done.

You are assuming that City got paid up front for Bowen and Grosicki ? When everyone else knows they didn't. We are still paying some players Premier League wages for playing in the Championship. How many players do FC pay £10k a week to play for some one else ? Point being the costs involved in running a Championship football club on gates of 10,000 must be fifty even 100 times more then they are for running a RL who attract similar sized crowds. The argument stays the same only the local rag reports it differently.

PS to OLM. I haven't bought the HDM for three years now. This stuff is available free of charge for all to see on their website.

I am not shoehorning rugby league into a myriad football issues at all.
I am highlighting the difference in the mood of reporting on exactly the same issues by two clubs in the same city by the same news media.
Also asking why we should have a hooligan article re printed again as if to back up how 'unsavoury' football is. .

I agree Phil Buckingham has wrote some good stuff recently. I think this Psychos/Monte Carlo stuff comes from the news desk, not the sports desk and as you rightly say it is misinformed rubbish and I've read this at least three times in recent months on Hull Live.
Buckingham isn't the problem. The problem lies with the 'everything is rosy' theme that runs through everything RL. Even the sacking of the coach live on SKY was glossed over as a good move.

I think Phil Buckingham is an excellent reporter, we’re lucky to have him and there was absolutely no issue with his article today.

The rugby reporters over-compensate for the fact they report on a minority sport and write a load of ****e, which is why I never read it (though Gwylim is the worst culprit)..

Occasionally, they get one of their news reporters to write a story about City, generally about scrapping and it’s always appalling and they shouldn’t do it (criticism of this alone I would be in complete agreement with).

I don’t accept that any local company base their sponsorship decisions on anything written in the HDM.
