For those that understand these things, if London has been hit hard by this current wave, are they actually better set for the future due to immunity, compared to somewhere like here, where more of us are liable to get hit in a second wave?
Will we get more lockdowns after the initial one, and/or is ours liable to last longer?
Your question is excellent, deep and at the moment unanswerable.
Here's a so called expert who is having a very difficult time answering more fundemantal questions.(first link below).
Experts are struggling to get to the bottom of this situation. Most countries have put into place tactics that logically seem to address the "reduce the spread" potential, and protect their health care facilities from being overstretched to breaking point. In the meantime, it seems that there are many countries (hopefully being co-ordinated) frantically trying to (1) develop tests to determine who's got the disease, (2) who's had it and carries "anti-bodies" and theoretically "may" be immune, and (3) how to develop a vaccine to combat the enemy within.
Testing the asymptomatic individuals who may have had it & developed immunity (perhaps) seems to be the key .
The economy unfortunately is gonna be the collateral damage, with all the spin-offs that means, as well as the tragic death toll directly attributed to this virus.
A fair number of those countries didn't get out of the blocks fast enough. (I'll avoid any political commentary here for obvious reasons, but whatever "leaked" from a so-called "untrustworthy China" wasn't jumped on fast enough - i.e. they acquiesced on that information - rather surprisingly. )
Apologies for what might seem a ramble - the main issue imo is the confusing , often conflicting info we're getting from the media channels !
