Danny Rose on the BBC site commenting on the ongoing pay discussions, does say some reasonable stuff but this quote stood out

Does anyone think without the pressure put on them over the last week players would even consider a wage cut? They are so disconnected.
There has been an element of distraction and scapegoating from some quarters, and there are some standout people like Pep who gets it. Premier players however mostly still seem to be living in the world as it was 4 months ago.
I'm sure it'll be very helpful, but doesn't setting up a charity usually involve sticking your face on the front page and then encouraging others to fund it?Some of the stuff I’ve read was that they were told not to say anything until they had figured out what they were going to do.
I have also seen a couple of examples of players setting up charities to help (Rashford and Henderson are the ones I’ve seen, in sure there are more)

Not the same as making a charitable donation...I expect there is some of that happening also but I get very cynical about celebrity charities
