A Camberwell Beauty taken in my field yesterday. There were two of them, and they don't settle for long. Managed to get this picture on my very cheap phone,

I did read online that it is the ‘state insect’ of Montana! Lovely title to confer.They are rarely seen in the UK andy. They are larger than the photo really shows and do overwinter in Europe. Last year was the first time I had seen one here, so to see the two of them up to a spot of hanky panky is a rarity. It is reckoned that they can fly at 30 mph.
