Yes I'm insured mate. Just need to locate all receipts for purchases. Luckily a lot are stored via email but one or two are pretty old I reckon I will have thrown the paper receipts.

To be fair, well as fair as you can to the thieving twats, there were a lot of van break ins around my area prior to this outbreak. Was only a matter of time.

Do you have Travellers around your area? They've been a big problem around here.

Some one asked about qualitative and quantitative tests. I do not know. But generally , most tests can be used quantitatively but aren't.
And that may be a confusing factor in all this.

I expect the viral one as used now is being used as just qualitative, it is a quick test.

My confusion is why this is taking so long to set up. The reagents in all these tests are pretty standard, only the start material is different (in the case of the viral test bits of the covid19 viral coat, immobilised on a support. We knew how to do this in January. I suspect the places where things like that are manufactured are made in Germany (Stan do you know).

The antibody tests take longer, and possibly demand the making of a human recombinant proteins....but once that is done everything else in the kit and the materials are standard. It can possibly can be run in labs that running similar tests (one exists in Oxford, Birmingham, Liverpool and a couple in London that I personally know about.

I think this is our leaders taking what the scientists say to literally and not asking the right questions and wanting to be positive

    SCIENTIST: We have a test
    POLITICIAN : Good

POLITICIAN TO THE NATION: We have a test and will have everyone tested before the weekend.

SCIENTIST: we haven't really mass produced it or quality control

Sorry to hear about the theft Bob. I’ve been done a few times, the last site we were on in Bristol was robbed 3 times. The contractor lost over £30k worth of Hilti tools and is still fighting to get compensated.

I don’t know Beth but I strongly suspect that we just don’t have the manufacturing capability. The UK should have an advantage in what is in effect a market for tests as a single, big purchaser. In the US they have 50 states in competition with each other.

I think your closing scenario is spot on.

Let’s keep our eyes on Denmark. They have had a strong and it looks like effective set of restrictions in place, and new infections are stabilising. They are putting a plan in place to start loosening restrictions, possibly in two weeks or less. I understand that it is essential, in the absence of an effective treatment/ vaccine, that we adopt a stop/start approach to restrictions, allowing more people to get the disease but keeping it below swamping the NHS. If we have a long lock down and then release we will get a second, higher peak of disease, apparently, in the autumn/winter.

Even if we have it under control we are only as safe as the weakest health system in the world allows us to be, unless travel is banned for a very long time.

Sorry to hear Bob. Had a pile.of my tools swagged last summer, it's a nitemare. Stealing from working guys is beyond criminal IMO, as they're damaging your livlihood too. Some van break-ins could cripple businesses, and have huge repercussions.

Agree there won't be civil unrest. If there is, it will be by the usual lot that act like tw2ts on Black Friday shopping days.

Sorry Woody this will piss you off, It’s a bit frivolous, but apparently your Lockdown Song is the one that was number one in the UK on your 12th birthday.

Makes mine Blockbuster by the mighty Sweet. Quite chuffed with that, though it’s not their best tune.

I think this is pretty accurate. Understandable that the government should want to give hope, but ultimately irresponsible. Better to under-promise and over-deliver.
