Sadly the ‘analysis’ is just speculation, and the Oxford University work has been rubbished by most other academics as using way too many assumptions. We can’t know until we have large scale community testing. The media in it’s need to fill every waking second with stuff, and the academics, with a need to churn stuff out to attract funding, are really doing us no favours.Johnson said two weeks ago that the antibody tests were pretty much ready. Where are they?
If this analysis is correct most of us are safe to go to work.
Would you like to show us this from 'most other academics'?Sadly the ‘analysis’ is just speculation, and the Oxford University work has been rubbished by most other academics as using way too many assumptions.
Totally agreeWe can’t know until we have large scale community testing. The media in it’s need to fill every waking second with stuff, and the academics, with a need to churn stuff out to attract funding, are really doing us no favours.
Hard to say really. I have had less colds, but that may be more to do with now having annual flu jabs than the hand washing advice, which I didn't really follow as assiduously as I should have. Come to think of it, I had my first bad cold for ages about three weeks ago - sore throat, cough, but no fever. Who knows if this might have been a mild dose of Covid-19? The sooner the antibody tests are available, the better.
One of the tests for Covid-19 is loss of taste and smell. If you had that and you weren't sneezing, then it could be.
As to life on the London Underground, the proximity between travellers, people breathing towards you from short distances, is the reason for cold viruses spreading imo. As soon as I stopped travelling on the tube regularly, I stopped getting colds

Both my wife and my daughter have had loss of taste and smell accompanied by chronic tiredness. Myself and my son had sore throats and coughs also accompanied by severe tiredness. There must be a chance that everyone in my household has had a mild form of the virus. Bring on the antibody tests.

Which make Khan's original message that it was impossible to catch Coronavirus on the underground the biggest cock-up of all...
I believe from what the medical officer said yesterday the antibody tests were different from other tests and can tell if you are asymptomatic. If you are clear and then get a cold it won't be Covid-19. He said it was like a pregnancy test and takes 15 minutes. I believe that they want your result data so they can work out a model of the spread. You get a number and put it online. SB was correct in that frontline will get the test first and Stroller was correct in that we (us) will probably have to wait some time. I guess if we want to blame the government for something then the test kits is their achilles heel, as Germany and some others had plenty. Plus testing has proved effective in South Korea. Can you imagine the fallout if after the testing 50-70% had it and didn't need to self isolate? The ironic thing about all of this is the kits will be made in China.I know the antibody test will indicate if someone had the virus but will we know if they’re immune to getting it again or a slightly different strain? I fear people will think they’re invincible once they know they were asymptomatic and never knew they had it.

Sorry to hear this Bob, keep chin up and I hope it’s not as seems. My mrs is showing symptoms which is really really worrying. She's not had any contact with anyone but i was working up until last Friday in an empty house with no contact. Driving in my van, I did fill up once on the Wednesday but wore the glove and sanitized my hands. I think if you are going to get it then you're going to get it, just depends on how serious it becomes for each individual. Will keep you posted.
Cheers Turkish. Much the same as yesterday really. Slightly high temp, aches and a head ache. No cough though. It could be anything but due to lack of testing we have to presume it's the virus.Sorry to hear this Bob, keep chin up and I hope it’s not as seems.
Way to go to **** the low band self employed with no savings. Live on fresh air until June, or five weeks for Universal Credit. Presumably the alleged advance payment is deducted from the official payments once the claim comes through.
Did you pay yourself out of your company? Surely that pay has to be included as ‘profit’? Or can you then apply as a business to support your employee salary? My wife, who has only just gone back into PAYE after 7 years paying herself the minimum wage and taking dividends from her company was heaving a sigh of relief (sorry). I don’t think this bloke has done you or himself any favours here. My lad has already been texting - as a 24 year old builder with a 24 year old’s lifestyle He has nothing to fall back on, he’s fortunate to have an understanding landlord who also owns the company he works for, and also to be kept afloat by us as needed. Others will be far less lucky. If I read it right, we can apply for 80% of our profits - I made just over £3K profit last year, so would be eligible for just over £200 a month - cheers RishiI'm well ****ed if I have to stop working
