Ok I’m not completing the title for the risk of being erm destroyed but I have just read that season ticket holders are being charged and expected to pay for next season. Is this actually true? It’s on bbc sport and I have heard from various friends that they are expected to pay as normal. Surely this is not only immoral but totally disrespectful. If it’s true then the man needs to be shamed.

You need to have principles to be able to be shamed.

Presume these are people on multi year deals since renewal notices haven’t gone out yet? Or have they?

Although he is a creitn - I am not sure how this is immoral or disrespectful.

Each person has to have a responsibility for themselves and to anyone that depends on them financially.

If they thought they could not afford it then they should have cancelled the DD or phone the bank and ask for it to be recalled. They will have known about this date for quite a while now so it is not like it has just jumped up and bit them on the arse and we knew last week about the job situation and possible loss of earning etc.

At the end of the day watching NUFC at St James' Park is a luxury (lol)

Anybody on a direct debit to Mike Ashley's ****house Utd deserves to lose the £624.

People are so thick, it's depressing.

I hear what your saying but I think it is immoral in that in times when the government are throwing money at people doing the right thing he is taking it even though there is no guarantee we will play any games next season.

Remember the players wages are being paid 80% by you and me now anyways. So he’s not losing money at all.

Not immoral at all as people do not have to pay. He asked and some people have paid. What is immoral are people smoking in public places. Games will play next season. I bet all other clubs in same situation are doing the same.

Only difference is our owner is a ****er.

If you don’t pay. Your ticket gets cancelled. Yes you have the option. But surely the club should have just said payments will be delayed until there is a bit more clarity where we are at. Sky have allowed me to pause my sky sports subscription. Every little helps. But MA just wants more. He’s put prices of his gym equipment up. I get it, supply and demand. But again in my eyes that is just profiteering and in the current climate that’s also immoral.

Think that's the point - assuming these are DD's associated with paying for next season or even paying an upcoming installment for this it should have been delayed until there is some clarity on when/whether the season will restart and what will happen next season.

At the moment knowing what will happen with the season is like betting on when Nev will update the Prediction League.

Not really something you would want to put your hard-earned money on.

Disgraceful yes, surprising no. If you pay money to Ashley I personally I think its your own fault and while feeling sorry for you, I have very little sympathy.

Then 80% is to a maximum of £30k per annum, so basically the contribution only extends to the first week of a footballer's salary

Your right. I actually forgot about that. Still. I’m sure they have a bob or two aside for a rainy day. Well all but Matty longstaff. Bet he wished he took up his 10k a week salary offer now eh!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52055654 Well said Andros. Crystal palace, hats off to you. Meanwhile on Tyneside our billionaire owner says pay your season tickets or lose them. Oh and if you want a piece of gym equipment it’s now double price. Oh our staff are key workers so stay working you minions.

Sports Direct boss Mike Ashley says sorry to government

Sports Direct boss Mike Ashley has apologised to the government after saying its shops should stay open during the coronavirus lockdown.

He agreed to close its high street stores earlier this week in a U-turn, having previously argued that the company provided an essential service and should stay open.

In an open letter, he said he was “deeply apologetic about the misunderstandings of the last few days”.

He added: "Our intentions were only to seek clarity from the government as to whether we should keep some of our stores open. We would never have acted against their advice.”

Mr Ashley also said that his Frasers Group would offer its entire fleet of lorries to help deliver medical equipment and supplies for the NHS and other key workforces.
