I work on the Wirral (near Liverpool). All the head teachers had a meeting this morning to pool ideas and (scant) information and agreed on what they thought best. There are two absolutely contradictory pieces of information put forward by the government. One is that schools should pool together and provide staff (so in north Wales they are using hub schools and closing most of them) but they also want pupils to be separated and the idea of pooling hundreds of pupils from different schools all together is the exact opposite of how to control the spread of a virus so on the Wirral they are keeping almost all the schools open but having fewer pupils in. We've been told we have to be in on Monday and are expected to work on indefinitely, though in fairness if there's enough of us I may only end up needing to work 2-3 days a week as we can do it in shifts.
I don't think any of the decisions are based on guidance by the government as there doesn't seem to be any.
ps.
We should know tomorrow. Havering leaders were meeting this afternoon.
No idea how this will go as we're the poorest of the London boroughs.
I presumed we would end up doing shift work.
