I think the proposal for UBI is for a few months.
no i understand that. I'm all in agreement with your 1000 quid a month UBI proposal for this period. You were talking about scrapping other benefits and having a UBI going forward though

He forgot that we’ve not got 66m working age people. We have circa 25m.
The idea of UBI is interesting but simply not appropriate for this crisis and the immediacy it requires.

If you give the rabble £1000 a month atm, they spend it on bog rolls and tinned tomatoes.
Exactly, I'm not really for helping anyone that is panic buying bog roll in some of the quantities that have been mentioned by the media, they clearly have too much money at their disposal if that over-rides the priority of food......oh yeah pasta....ffs![]()
Make more sense to deliver meals and necessities to the vulnerable and the elderly.

Covering a percentage of payrolls via reverse payments on PAYE isn’t the same as implementing UBI though is it.For this situation I don't agree, the fastest way to help those suddenly out of a job is by tax refunds .
Anything else is going to add complexity and delay.
I've just checked his biography. On an academic scale he's off the chart.Matt Hancock is frighteningly unimpressive. How the **** did he end up in the position he's in? Surely there's better talent within the party ie a Sulak for the NHS?

But has somebody been assigned to take that standard seaside scenery shot with a rock in the foreground and post it on The Burley Arms Thread if you are not fit to do it?
We’ve actually set up a really good system now, not taking the credit for it myself as it’s been a team effort.
Basically we’ve got over 500 volunteers signed up to support a parish of around 5000 people. Every household has had a card through their door with a number of their volunteer to contact if they are isolating and need help getting food and provisions etc.
Also loads of local business have stepped up and are offering free home delivery for essential provisions, food etc and hot meals, cleaning products etc.
people are offering dog walks, telephone chats and a pop round even if they have to talk through the letterbox just to check on people and make sure they are okay.
We’ve got teachers who will be home from school offering to do live web casts to keep the kids occupied and a couple of DJ’s who are going to do live streams in the evenings to keep spirits up.
really proud of my community and even prouder to be a part of it.![]()
