Only one idiot in that conversation and it isn't Tobes.

What the hell is wrong with people?

You carry on being a victim to sensationalism, but keep your insults out of it.

Some of us take a more measured and intelligent approach to these things.

That's cos the public education campaign about unprotected sex worked.

So what?

Is that the point that I was actually making?

Or was I making the point about these things being grossly over sensationalised and sending people into unnecessary panic?

My missus has ordered rubbing alcohol online and is going to start making her own hand sanitizer ... might be the start of a cottage industry ... get your orders in boys... you can have it any flavour that I've got in the herbs and spices cupboard... saffron and pomegranate molasses top of the range at fifty notes ... other end ... marmite, just a tenner <cheers>

I'll have two bottles of cannabis infused sanitizer please....... Do you take PayPal

Not really insulting you "idiot" is pretty tame tbf, I just don't agree with your viewpoint quite strongly.

So, you believe that the AIDS story was handled without being over sensationalised by every media outlet?

You don't think that at the current infection rate someone you know is going to catch it?

I don't know.

If I believe the press, we're all going to get it, and tens of thousands of people in the UK alone will die from it.

All I'm saying is that the media has made these claims before, and it has been wrong to the point of being grossly negligent.

The problem with these media driven events is that we hear a lot of doomsday projections but there is very little education. It is highly irresponsible.

Edit: COVID not AIDS

So what?

Newborn tests positive for COVID-19

Mother tested positive

Docs trying to establish if the baby caught it in the womb or after it was born

I guess this is where it might be different from the common cold?

It was a huge problem and a lot could have been done if the right action had been taken early on, it was ignored and the proper treatment and advice held back. I'm not a fan of media hype but as much as they overhype some things they are also guilty of ignoring situations that don't sell.

The press are a complete waste of time when it's being run like it is..... Now real journalist's do research before putting it out there...... John pilger being one of the few we can trust but he's a freelance man as per usual...... His NHS dirty wars work was held back(ofcom puppets) until after the tory boys got into power..... That probably wouldn't have happened if the sensible had seen it pre election.

Saying that we seem to have a country full of self-harming people intent on pain before pleasure.

Peter and the wolf...... Press association

Just been to the supermarket looks like we’ll be eating bovril and Easter egg stew for the foreseeable future

So far I’ve not really seen shortages in shops except hand sanitizer, tomato soup and super noodles!

And by the following day mostly those things have been back on the shelves.

Have had other people telling me about shortages in their local supermarkets though.

Iceland had a guy on question time who basically said they aren’t having difficulty with supply chains they’re just not managing to get it onto the shelves fast enough.

This panic buying is so stupid...

It’s getting bad, I had to go as I’m out of a lot of stuff. Can only see it getting worse.

No idea what point you were making

The Aids epidemic would have been massively worse had itnot been for one of the, if not the, most effective public education programmes ever run.

As a point of information try conversing politely instead of coming across as an arrogant twat or don't bother responding to me
