Caribbean. Boarding in Barbados.

The locations the cruises stop at get stupidly busy and you don’t get to enjoy the proper vibe of the islands anyway. Unless you find it difficult to plan out a trip yourself (or get around) I have no idea why people go on cruises like that?

Sounds like a lucky escape to me!

Supposed to being going to Dam Easter holidays

should I bother booking it?

or will **** go crazy by then?

Netherlands currently have less cases than us but who knows how things will develop.

Quite likely to get cheap deals though and if the airline cancels you’ll get your money back. Personally I’d go for it!

I’m sure you’re the voice of experience here <doh>

I’ve done cruises before. I don’t do planned excursions. I generally get off at port, find a local cabbie, book him for the day and they’ll take you around points of interest. Been on some fantastic day trips doing this and if I have to cancel I’ll be gutted. So basically STFU.

Someone’s a bit touchy after Everton got smashed today <laugh>

I’m definitely not the voice of experience when it come to cruises, I’ve never been on one! That’s why I was asking why anyone would want to go on one if they’ve got other options? I get it if you’re old, have issues getting round on your own or are just a bit crap at organising stuff but otherwise what are the advantages?

I’ve been to a handful of Caribbean islands and the spots where the cruise ships come in are over priced and over crowded. My in laws like a cruise and they regularly have a **** experience of somewhere and you can always tell it’s the cruise ship descending on a place that’s done it rather than the place itself. Plus on travel forums there’s always people struggling to figure out ways of doing/seeing the most interesting stuff based on the short amount of time they have off the ship.

I just don’t see the appeal...

And don’t cancel! If the situation gets much worse with the cruise ships they’ll presumably start to cancel and at least then you will get your money back and can re-book something else!

Well, given you’ve got **** all experience of one, then why comment in a manner that made out you actually knew about the experience?

I’ve travelled in all sort of different manners, and there’s merits to all of them, including doing a cruise. I like sailing, I enjoy the experience, the quality of food and service is fantastic, and waking up somewhere fresh everyday is great. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

I’ll take a view on cancelling in the next week or so. The idea that most of the lines will cancel is fanciful though.

Looks like it’s going to be a “volatile” week for the stock markets. That’s your pension money folks.
