"He's a player with great talent. He has to know he has to do much better and know I cannot keep giving him opportunities to play because the team is much more important."

First he attacks the disappointing expensive player (Ndombele/Pogba) and the fans say that's fine.
Then he gets more time.
But nothing improves, because he's already poisoned the club, and soon he starts throwing whoever else under the bus.

I’d agree that Pope is a better shot stopper but Southgate wants his goalkeepers to play a bit too. We don’t have any other goalkeeper that comes close to Pickford’s distribution.
