He did say that he would have to do things that would not be popular with the fans. Who would have guessed that he meant signing players who are sh1te and letting our best player go?
Where did the rumour about us refusing to pay more of Gallagher's wages come from? Seems like an oversimplification to me and ignores Gallagher maybe wanting to go.

Regardless, he has been the player we miss the most.

Don't think money had anything to do with it, more like Chelsea wanted him to go to a club that plays half decent football and dont have a **** injury record.

As I understand it, Swansea offered Chelsea a loan fee and a higher % of his wages... Chelsea are a business, why wouldn't they accept?

Yeah, the Gallagher story for me is posted firmly in the rumour section. There is another rumour that Chelsea wanted Gallagher to play with experienced professionals, and given our injuries he was being asked to lead the line with the kids. The upshot was they moved him to Swansea so that he could learn, not teach. Also a rumour, but as the hysteria regarding Southall takes over, anything goes.

Bowyer was mildly ridiculed for defending Douchatelet; he said Douchy had backed him, what more did the fans want, or something very close. No such words about ESI, quite the reverse, talking about how other clubs strengthened in the January window. I didn't hear anyone on Saturday shouting for him to bring on any of Southall's freebies, which more or less proves his point.

Of course, but Charlton not increasing wage contribution by 10% or whatever seems uncharacteristically short term from Chelsea.

Their loan network shows they leave players at a club for the season and sell them on for £££.

What seems more likely to me is that either they were alarmed by the injury crisis or Gallagher was sick of it, neither of which can be blamed directly on the board.

What can be blamed on the board and management team is underestimating Gallagher's influence in our midfield when he did leave.

Good point, the relationship between them does seem odd.
