Post from Reams that Southall was inviting agents into the club to tap up our youngsters, which Bowyer was unhappy about. I have to say I cannot see any reasoning behind this - what woyuld anyone other tan the agnets get from this as being youngsters, they would go for a song anyway. But it does sound as if we have hit a new low of mismanagement. I also saw (somewehere) that Nimer wanted to replace Southall, but the guy refused to budge. That makes for an interesting read in itself - who owns what, and where did the power lie? As Nimer has gone, it seems as if he hadn't got the power to remove Southall, which for me is a surprise, as I thought Southall was a representative of the owner, Nimer. However, it also sounds as if the financial clout just left, and we are stuck with a guy who's chief ambition was to buy up the entire Range Rover stock in south London. As Nimer bought Stueua Bucharest at the weekend, I imagine his interest in CAFC is over forever, which is a bugger, to put it mildly. The stories about Southall shopping about for financial backing now look very likely to be true, but after last night's events, who would give him any more tan a fiver? The guy will have no credit anywhere, so we are now reliant on him to pay the debts. Duchatalet will proably find he has returned to ownership of Charlton in the summer. it Will be interesting to see who exactly promised to buy all the land in the contract - Nimer or Southall. But is sounds like both will try to avoid doing so, and it will be a question of whether there are penalty clauses for failure to comply with conditions, and whose name is on the paper. In a fortnight where i lost a mate to organ failure, and my job is under threat due to corona virus, I'd really wanted Charlton to cheer me up, which they have not done. But FFS, I really didn't need this. Back we goes to sitting around asking 'why did our owner buy us if he doesn't give a ****?
I'm not clear about what happens if we go into administration. Does Roland still own the land, or does the whole lot go into the hands of the administrators? It's hard to imagine things getting worse, but who knows?
I don’t think the Valley is the issue at the moment. planning permission was always the deal breaker because of the very narrow access to any new properties via Floyd Road & Harvey Gardens. The bigger issue today IMO is the short term viability of the club. Who is paying the wages & running costs for the rest of a very fraught run in, with the team in the relegation zone? If we go into Admin we are in a very deep hole. We are now relying on Duchâtelet’s famous goodwill to keep us alive. I can’t see how Southall can survive the day.
Bolton were in a similar position last season and came through it … not sure who owned their freeholds though?
Reportedly, because our wage bill is pretty much the same as it was in league 1, we're very close to breaking even so short term might not be too much of a concern yet. Come summer we're f*cked though as Southall has no money. How did Jimenez and Slater manage to do it for a year back in 2012/13?
Bolton nearly didn't come through it though - Possini and the Range Rover kid tried to get the sale stopped in court the day before it did!!!
@Royston Rejuvenated at a guess, if Southall had any interest in the club, he should be standing aside to let Nimer back in. As it stands, I cannot see any sign that Southall has the funds to see us to the end of the season, and if we get there, there is a clause saying the new owners need to buy the land, for an overpriced 50m, when the financial markets are all spiralling downwards to ruin. Sincerely, that ain't gonna happen. However, Nimer may well want nothing to do with Charlton and Southall anyway, and this maybe an excuse to get out of a large financial holw when chaos is looming anyway. IF Nimer has loads'a'money, the best outcome would be to pay off Southall and take over. But I fear his goodbye means literally that and he is out of the frame. besides the rumour mill suggests he failed to provide proof of funds either. Why on earth Southall would want to cling on, and get into a legal battle defies me - his history in that sort of stuff sounds like he generally loses given the stuff Reams has been posting about his CV. Bu it all looks pretty black as of now. The financial markets are in turmoil, and there are usually sharks in those sort of waters. Southall seems potless, Nimer has gone, and if I understand business correctly, RD has essentially rented out Charlton to Southall for six months for a quid. We may (and I heartily underline 'may') yet be gratefull RD didn't let the land go to these guys. But that is to suggest RD may well turn into a saviour of the club. Who thought that was even a possibility back in january. Whatever, I can't see who is there to remove Southall and replace him. Unless we go into administration today.
please log in to view this image Trust News CAST to meet Southall tomorrow Tue Mar 10 2020 Along with all Charlton fans CAST were shocked to learn last might that the majority shareholder of East Street Investments - Tahoon Nimer - is walking away from Charlton Athletic as a result of disagreements with Executive Chairman Matt Southall. Furthermore, in the light of Southall's claim that Nimer has made no financial contribution to the club, we are very concerned about the availability of current and future funding. We have arranged a meeting with Matt Southall tomorrow (Wednesday) to put to him the many questions that Charlton fans need to see satisfactorily answered.
Apparently, there are 4 brand new Range Rovers leased. Southall and who else? Heard that Southall's Mum has one of them - shckin juss shocking is true!!
Should be one of the first questions 2nd question - why did you whip Charlton fans into a January transfer window supa dupa frenzy when no money was available?
