Until Wednesday, my problems with him were entirely based on what he did on the pitch. However, the **** about going to the directors to ask which game to throw...?

That's it for me. I'm out and will adopt the same mode that I did with 'The Bloke in the Coat'. He'll be gone sooner or later and we'll appoint someone more appropriate, who will do a far better job.

In the meantime, I'll call him as I see him based upon what he does for US. What he did for someone else, I do not care about.
...and yet the people who moaned for years about Poch sacking off the cups at various points haven't had a damn word to say about this

I mostly agree. Any new manager should be given time, they need a full season to be given a proper chance.

My main issues are that I never wanted Jose to be given time, as I don't think he's the right manager to rebuild our squad, and if anyone should be able to make an instant impact to get us top 4, it should be the manager getting paid £15mill a year.

Pochettino, didn't seem like he was going to be around much longer, even if we didn't sack him so whilst it was a sad way to end things it wasn't the worst call. I really don't like that we're throwing away all the things that worked for us in his reign though.

If we look at Levy's recent decisions; the Amazon doc, hiring Jose and scrambling for signings in January to get top 4. These seem to be more about quickly raising the club's profile and protecting it's value than any long term plan. I expect he and Lewis are planning to sell the club very soon, and that's a reality that really depresses me about the state of football at the very top. I hope I'm wrong but as much as they like to mention that they're Spurs fans, the decisions they're making are cold, sterile and strictly business. There's nothing that suggests to me they're trying to get us playing exciting football again, and nothing that suggests they're targeting reaching a CL final again. When it comes to selling up, our club is going to the highest bidder and that's the only metric that will count.

regarding selling us

I wonder who will be willing to pay north of a Billion just to get his feet under the table? And then to build the team to a standard required to challenge in a manner such an investor probably expects?

I don’t see it happening

I was travelling Wednesday so I am not aware of what you are referring to?

I couldn’t believe it when I heard that. Even for Jose, it’s an outrageous thing to say. But it all fits in with his negative, self pity attitude he has these days.

personally I think it fits in with his challenging the owner methods when he doesn’t get what he thinks is required

That’s exactly why I wanted him at our club

about time someone exposed Levy

he basically said he will have to talk to the owners about which game they want to prioritise because this squad can’t go full pelt in both games(Burnley and Leipzig)

In other words...he’s calling Levy out again

Thanks Spurlock. Yes I can see your point. To say that is honest unless you wan't to be bullshitted by the manager about going for both.
Pochettino pointed this kind of thing out many times. I don't see a problem with it. When the directors are involved in transfers then they have to also answer for their decisions. Levy is at his weakest when he involves himself in football decisions.

An authoritarian dictator in need of some good PR, a huge multinational looking to grab some hard assets and free advertising, maybe we get a dividend leach like the Glazers.

I don't think huge investment is likely to be a priority for any new owner, just sit back and watch the money roll in.

This is where I wish the rumours of a year or two ago would come true - A Steve Nash consortium.

Guy bleeds Tottenham and he's spoken in the past he'd love to buy shares/ own the club. His reputation in the USA would also likely be of benefit to the club from a business/ marketing perspective.

You've said it yourself. Nash would provide a face to potentially boost the brand abroad and maybe add a little bit of authenticity to the takeover. Levy was a fan, ENIC have invested and driven up the value of the club. Best case is we get a similar model with a similar level of competency running it. That's the best realistic outcome in my view and it won't do much to change a lot of the things people are frustrated with. The other outcomes will be worse, which is why I don't relish the thought of ENIC selling up.

Is Nash going to turn all the billionaire investors into true fans who run the club altruistically? Nah, we'll get bled for all we're worth like usual.

In other words...he’s calling Levy out again

Yes, he is.

Rose did it and I called him on it.

I would pose what good it did Rose or anyone other than The Sun?

Did it help...

Rose?

His team mates?

His manager?

The club?

Daniel Levy isn't going to change his mind because Rose, Mourinho or anyone has a little paddy to the press. It will sour things internally and get the perpetrator a one-way ticket out of the club, once the verbal and written warnings are done...but it will change nothing for the better.

He tried this in January to get a striker, referring to having no options on the bench or at the club...and we signed nobody.

It doesn't work, is demotivating to the players who are trying to make sense of his tactical disaster class and demeaning to his role as Tottenham manager.

All Mourinho is doing, is speeding up the day he collects his compo.

It’s hard to shut your mouth and get on with things when you believe it’s someone else and their mind set that hinders you.

Maybe Jose is slightly concerned that Levy will go back on his word...if indeed there has been one

We all know and have seen Levy act like he’s cleverer than he actually is when it comes to the football aspect...so Jose keeps on dropping them hints

It’s different for Jose than it was for Rose. Jose gets the chop, he gets the backlash from fans, he has to deal with it all. Then he has to deliver with what he has...a manager can’t do his job without the correct tools so I think him calling Levy out is very different to Rose doing it..who needed to concentrate on his own game and just that.

You may well be right Brian your argument makes sense but Jose is the biggest managerial force Levy has employed so we could well have the immovable object against the unstoppable force in the worst case.

The manager hasn't been born that Levy won't sack.

I'm struggling to understand where and how Levy has gone back on some commitment to Mourinho?

This was how his appointment was widely reported...

"José Mourinho has been told that he will have to work with Tottenham’s existing squad as there is no money for an overhaul in January. The manager, who has taken over from Mauricio Pochettino on a three-and-a-half-year contract, has entered the role with his eyes open as to the financial realities at the club and it was noticeable that on Wednesday evening he talked up the players he has inherited. Mourinho also claimed he was looking forward to working with the academy players. It was also reported that during negotiations to take the manager’s job, Mourinho told the chairman, Daniel Levy, that Harry Kane must not be sold next summer."

He was told that the club wouldn't be spending big in January and that was exactly what happened, despite his antics. I'm sure that he was told a spend for this summer, with CL qualification, with EL qualification and with stuff all by way of European football - which is what's going to happen.

We need investment in the squad to a level that Daniel Levy didn't expect or want to commit to, I would agree that is likely. However, going to the press isn't the way to get what Mourinho wants. Levy's got brass balls and a stubborn streak a mile wide and.....he can sack Mourinho....and he'll do it before he lets any manager lead him around by the nose.

Levy will have told Jose the situation in the interview and Jose will have agreed to it.

So like Brian says, why is everyone acting like Levy has stitched Jose up?

Jose took the job and is earning an obscene amount of money to manage, yet a few months in and he’s saying the squad can’t manage a game on Saturday and then another midweek because of a couple of injuries?

A large part of it comes from bidding £60m for Dybala in the summer

The thing about that is that, while there was £60m in play last summer, it wasn't in January - as making Lo Celso's loan permanent in January ate up the best part of half of that figure, as the original plan of the loan becoming permanent with CL qualification was slipping off the table

It’s not as though he’s lost any couple of players

He’s lost 50% of our goals not to mention the in game impact of the two said players

Take 2 best attackers out of any team in world football at the same time and something will give

City : Aguero/Jesus
Pool: Salah/Mane
PSG: Mbappe/Neymar
Barca:Messi/Suarez

etc etc

better squads than ours would feel the hit..it’s what they bring in the game.

I get that and sympathise with him in that respect but I’m still not seeing any sort of plan or style, every game is just a chaotic mess.

One thing about Steptonho's comments really sticks out for me, namely how people pick and choose when they get PO'd with a manager sacking off a cup competition and when they pretend that a manager never sacked off a cup competition even though they clearly did

Case in point, in September 2010 the honest and humble Saint Harry of Redknapp fielded the following team in a Season Killer Cup match against Arsenal: Pletikosa; Naughton, Bassong, Caulker, Assou-Ekotto; Bentley, Palacios, Livermore, Sandro; Pavlyuchenko, Dos Santos

So you would think that the torch and pitchfork mob would be marching down the streets filled to the brim with indignant rage at us lining up with the grand total of two first-choice players for a cup match against our "local" rivals, a match we wound up losing 4-1...but no, people pretend this result never happened, because after all the honest and humble Saint Harry of Redknapp always took cup competitions seriously and would never do something as rash as field a reserve team in a cup game...but the thing is he did, it's on record that he did, and yet we're expected to have forgotten that while complaining that Poch never gave the cups a go even though he reached one final and three semi-finals in the various cup competitions which, by complete coincidence, is better than the honest and humble Saint Harry of Redknapp managed for us

Same goes with those howling in bilious rage that Poch sacked off the Europa League a few years ago by fielding the reserves against Dortmund to predictable results, yet when I dared suggest that he fielded a more senior team than the youth teams that the honest and humble Saint Harry of Redknapp fielded several times during one Europa League team I was shouted down for...remembering that the honest and humble Saint Harry of Redknapp fielded youth teams in the Europa League to get that out of the way as quickly as possible

And now we have Steptonho outright saying he's sacking off FA Cup and even Premier League matches in order to focus on the game against Monster Energy Gelsenkirchen and the response is...well do you see any torches, pitchforks or bilious rage at that?

So are we being told that one manager is allowed to sack off certain competitions while others can't, which is pure idiocy, or are we being told that it doesn't matter if certain managers do it because they're a "character"...which is what lumbered this country with Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson in Downing Street in spite the fact he's as sociopathic as he is incapable of governing or taking responsibility for his ****ups
