That's about the size of it mate. We've suffered a few knocks this season, but are still in contention ... ... we have a run of games where we can get into a great position for the run in. Rotherham have suffered a few nerves recently, one win in the last four games. We've lost one of our last six games and that was away to the top team. Portsmouth will have a serious dip starting at Peterborough on Saturday ... ... we'll beat Gillingham and set off on another good run.
It's not getting any easier for Portsmouth, they have Fleetwood up next ... ... on the same night we go to Bristol. We have to make the most of our chances as the top teams play each other. I'll go for a draw for those two and 6-0 to put us above Rotherham. Portsmouth - Fleetwood Portsmouth - Doncaster Fleetwood - Rotherham Ipswich - Portsmouth Wycombe - Oxford Utd Coventry - Wycombe Oxford Utd - Portsmouth Coventry - Peterborough Rotherham - Portsmouth Coventry - Oxford Utd Sunderland - Peterborough Rotherham - Doncaster Oxford Utd - Fleetwood Doncaster - Ipswich Rotherham - Sunderland
Portsmouth 1-1 Fleetwood Portsmouth 1 - 0 Doncaster Fleetwood 2 - 0 Rotherham Ipswich 2 - 1 Portsmouth Wycombe 1 - 0 Oxford Utd Coventry 3- 1 Wycombe Oxford Utd 0-0 Portsmouth Coventry 1 - 0 Peterborough Rotherham 0-0 Portsmouth Coventry 1-0 Oxford Utd Sunderland 1-0 Peterborough Rotherham 1-1 Doncaster Oxford Utd 1-1 Fleetwood Doncaster 2-2 Ipswich Rotherham 0-3 Sunderland Portsmouth drop 9 points. Fleetwood drop 4 points. Oxford drop 10 points. Peterborough drop 6 points Rotherham drop 10 points. Ipswich drop 2 points. Wycombe drop 3 points. Doncaster drop 7 points. Sunderland drop 0 points. They're my predictions, of the last 'six pointers' which seem perfectly reasonable imo. Dunno how that all works out but I'm sure it shows how easy it is for the top teams to drop lots of points.
Personally, and I have never ever wanted to be more wrong, I think the cheating b*stards are there meaning only one more automatic place to go. I still think it will be us.
I do hope you can wait until next season for that. You haven't managed it in all four games against Gillingham this year.
I want Coventry to win their six pointers ... .... will help us be promoted automatically. We'll have to wait a lot longer ... ... Gillingham will be at least a league below us for many years. Believe me, beating Gillingham isn't of much interest in the grand scheme of things. I've seen us win at Gillingham which wasn't a big deal, 4-0 or 4-1 ... ... I can't even remember tbh, just another game, not a cup final as in your case. I certainly didn't go on a Gillingham forum to boast about it
I think that's the best scenario for us tbh. I'd count it as promotion rather than runners up ... ....champions of L1 isn't of much interest in all honesty.
