skip to about 8 mins of the charlton related link. confirms RD still owns shares in cafc. what these shares are arent clarified (e.g. training ground, ground, other).

£50m was paid for a club worth £25m.

comparisons made to the palace owners who came in - they spent their wedge buying the club and had none to invest until the next seasons payments.

sorry if this has already been posted. but quite alarming!

£50M is incorrect - no money whatsoever has changed hands yet!!!!!!!

I almost feel like excusing Gallen the January transfer window. I can’t believe that any of that tat was down to him.

I’m not sure the comparison with the Palace takeover - if you are talking about Steve Goldberg - is an accurate one.

Goldberg by his own admission was a complete greenhorn when he bought Palace. His truly disastrous decision was to appoint Terry Venables - who cottoned on to this, and fleeced him in the most brutal way possible. Not just the contract, but all the perks & the transfer budget.

My main concern with ESI is this - if we do go down & they suddenly have a hole in their budget, what is to stop them reneging on buying the freeholds?

I think we now see why the Belgian has the 'Power of Attorney' over CAFC, if ESI fail to come up with his money in June then he just takes the Club back.... or perhaps?????.. put it into Liquidation/Administration and blames ESI?

i think they were referirng to the yanks. they'd spent their budget buying the club and developments/investment only came about after prem money was dished out

If they had the dough they surely would have bought the gaff in January, it smells more than my bottom on a Sunday morning.

The Belgian wants his pound of flesh, and won't lose a penny if it's humanly possibly. The agreement seems to be very one-sided in this respect, and he would sell the Valley like a shot to get his money back if it was possible, so let's hope it's not possible. The interview is interesting, but the deal is so opaque that no-one really knows the ins and outs of it. Whether or not we're better off than before the takeover is open to question.
