For me VAR in it's current form is a criminally wasted opportunity ... it should have been used solely for contentious incidents and to help cut out blatant cheating ... instead it has been derailed by jobsworth knob jockeys that have made it a scapegoat for their anally retentive incompetence... encapsulated in the directive that the match ref should not look at the ****ing monitors
That's the clincher for me. I've always regarded the match officials as part of the game, and the drama that human error can lead to. As long as the refs aren't bent and are well trained/versed in officiating, and try their best, then any errors of judgement should be just seen as bad luck for those on the wrong end of a decision. #my2cents
Same for me And as VAR has shown, it still can never be completely objective anyway. I'd rather live with a mistake from the on field ref, than see VAR **** the game up for fans.
