This was a thread I started on a whim and wished I hadn't half way through. There are many more of these than I thought but my initial feeling is still that we come out of it quite well. Some of the matches are really tasty derbies such as Rotherham and Doncaster

We have 5, and only two I'd worry about, whereas Fleetwood have 7 as do Portsmouth of which 5 are away. At one point Portsmouth have 4 out of 5 games against the top teams.

No idea why I started this thread tbh, I had a few spare minutes ....

.... and it took me thirty FFS <doh>

I suppose it all means it's virtually impossible to work out who'll go up which we knew anyway.

Ha - too much time on your hands.
Top of the table is going to change every week. Consistency will be the key to going up and we seem to have it now.

After Coventry away we have a big chunk of games where only the other top teams are playing each other.

That looks like a period when we could make up a fair few point ...

... during that time it's a fact that some of the top teams will definitely be dropping points.

In fact, if all those games were draws it would possibly put us top <laugh>

Very good thread just shows the difficulty of what’s going the happen

Interesting thread, in answer to the question, only three points are at stake in each game, but if you take all 3 and deprive your competitors of 3, then n effect it can be described as a 6 pointer. And there are so many coming up its virtually impossible to predict any outcome at the top of the league, that wont stop us from trying tho <ok>

If we beat Oxford a nine point gap if they beat us a 3 point gap so there it is a 6 pointer. I reckon Fleetwood could do a Charlton, we will have to watch them. Pompey have tough away games, cov home games, Peterboro coming here as well hopefully 49,900 for that one (stewart get some more seats in east stand at the top plenty of room and lets get the record division crowd !). The Rotherham away game could be massive

I can' t see Fleetwood being anything other than playoff candidates. But they could do us a few favours.
Rotherham will fade away.
Top two between Us, Portsmouth Peterboro and Coventry.
The momentum PP's built up should see us squeeze into 2nd.
However, I'm always wrong, so my final prediction is that we'll finish 7th.
<doh>

I dont think we play anyone in the top 6 for a few weeks whereas there are quite a few top teams playing each other - if we just keep going as we are hopefully we should start reeling the top 2 in.

Just got to keep going and winning games - could be an exciting run in!

It's going to go to the last day for most of the top 6 places, maybe even all of them. We have take as many points as possible in the 5 games that Smug has pointed out we are involved in and try to win all of the other games we play.
Every game we play till the end of the season is massive regardless who it is we play.

If we win the rest of our games and those around lose 2 or 3, we go automatically..

Simple as...sorted

Weekend of upsets would be great.

Bolton to beat Wycombe
Southend to beat Coventry
Burton beat Ipswich
Fleetwood and Peterborough draw
Gillingham beat Doncaster
Shrewsbury beat Pompey
AFC Wimbledon beat Rotheram

Lads beat Oxford and the table looks like this:
Rotheram 56pts
Peterborough 56
Sunderland 54
Coventry 54
Wycombe 53
Portsmouth 50
Ipswich 49
Doncaster 48

You mean who will go up with us surely <laugh>

Here's my take:

This is all going to split out a bit.

Doncaster, Fleetwood and Ipswich will battle for the last playoff spot. Wycombe will fall away, as will Oxford.

Portsmouth and Peterborough will be solidly in the playoffs, chasing the top 3 but a few too many draws/defeats to catch them.

Coventry in hot pursuit of the top 2, in 3rd on the final day with a win guaranteeing them promotion.

Rotherham top, us second on the final day with us needing a win for the title, or Coventry to draw/lose to finish 2nd.

Spoiler: We'll win it!

It shows just how tight this league could be come the end of the season.
Bring it on
Haway Haway Haway

It could all mean nothing, but you're right, it shows that some teams have had an easier run so far.

Portsmouth have to go to Fleetwood, Peterborough, Oxford, Ipswich and Rotherham.

That may well hurt them, but if not they'll be hurting other teams.

Any Sunderland win, and a draw between two other rivals, means we're making up 2 points on both of them ...

... two games and we might have caught up 4 points on them or 6 on one team if it loses them.

That's a massive turn around in the grand scheme of things.

Of course it could all go against us, but it gives us hope that our good form and momentum mean we're not yet out of it.

Some teams, like Oxford today, have key players out with suspensions and injury. In all honesty I've no idea how good other team's squads are, but I'd be really surprised if they're better than ours.

This is just my opinion, which may be incorrect, but Parkinson has made big decisions that have greatly helped our form. He's booted out our popular player, at a time when he was under massive pressure, which shows that he's stronger than I'd previously believed.

I'm at the point whereby I'll cheer any team he puts on the pitch. So if Grigg is named in the starting eleven today I'll trust the manager and hope that they both prove me wrong ...

... after the way I rolled my eyes when Parkinson was appointed, it's the least I can do <laugh>

would be nice to think that last day match could settle who finishes up champions.
If us and Rotherham were ahead by an unasaleable gap then I wouldnt care who finishes top as long as we secure promotion.

Wouldnt it be funny tho if were in a position where a draw puts both of us up and leaves Coventry in the play offs? Would we, would Rotherham? Oh I do hope so.

Absolute genius mate ...

... wouldn't it be great to see the Coventry supporters weeping and wailing.

They've spent years saying 'Ah yes but any team would've played out a draw so no big deal, live with it'.

In reality Jimmy Hill would turn in his grave if his jawbone didn't stop him.
