You can tell he thinks he's a charmer.

Yes, that's probably more like it.
I'm spending the day with my Hammers/ O's friend, her father's a friend of Geoff Hurst, I wonder if she gets to hear any gossip!! :emoticon-0117-talki

We'll no doubt be finding out.

Liked Hurst, seemed quite modest seeing as what he achieved compared to some of today's players.

I'll never love Pardew, A dodgy past and that wimpish punch when we got the fourth goal against Arsenal sum him up.

He's a far better manager than Hughton though, just nowhere near as likable.

These are the exact reasons I like Pardew <laugh> the man is hilarious.

AAAAAAAH! That punch was terrible! You can tell his coat was trapping the bottom of his arm so he couldn't do it properly. Cringeworthy. The Tiote moment is ruined whenever they show that goal. I get all tingly and then i see Pardew and feel sick.

Haha <laugh>, it adds to the moment for me. Pardew usually stands there emotionless but he just couldn't help himself, got carried away and didn't care that he looked like a moron. I can totally see why you'd find him annoying for all of those reasons, but for me it's gone beyond annoying and become awesome in a sort of ironic way.

Haha i get it. I'll remove my hatred and try to love him for the next month. I'll give it a go and see what happens but i can't promise anything.

Pardew is head and shoulders above Hughton as a manager.

Hughton can't spot a player. James Perch anyone?

Wouldn't go so far as to say Pardew is the answer mind, but as much as I liked Hughton's humility and honesty, I don't think he's a capable top level manager.

In fairness, Calderwood was behind the Perch signing.

Like Smudger said - that was Calderwoods doing.

Also, doubt we have even seen a signing this summer who was 'Pardews buy'.

Not sure how people have worked out that Pardew is a better manager than Hughton at this stage, but each to their own. Pardew has a pretty woefull track record as a manager. But he's done ok since coming to us and it is way too early to truely judge given he has only just put his stamp on this team, having achieved last years results on Hughtons work. Quite happy to give Pardew time and see where it takes us. He is never gonna be as likeable a character as Hughton, but he doesn't need to be. Results are what matter provided you don't act like a buffoon and bring shame on the club.

As for transfers its too complicated now to judge who is responsible for each transfer. Is it Carrs work for finding Ben Arfa? Is it Hughton for being in charge when he was signed initially, or do you give Pardew the credit as he made it permanent??? Perch supposedly a Calderwood signing too. And then, although I'm not totally convinced, what about Best being Hughtons. Plus all managers make cock ups (Djemba Djemba for Ferguson a prime example) All in all we don't have the inside line on how these transfers come about so its just guess work.

There's really a remarkable amount of consensus on this one:

a. Pardew is less likeable than Hughton

b. Nobody thinks this is important, and

c. He's doing a reasonable to good job so far and long may it continue

Whatever happened to the raging contraversies and flame wars of old 606 ?

They removed tags <wah>

One thing I really like about Pardew is how cool and calm he seems to be. Its a characteristic that is useful for a Newcastle manager!

This picture sums it up really

Two totally different personalities there. I know which I'd rather have.
