... why are there so few?

I have no stats, so this is mostly my observations, but most managers seem to ignore what seems to be the ideal opportunity and wait until the 60th minute.

Yeah 60 mins seems to be the all important mark these days, unless you're PP who seems to prefer about 75th minute for some reason.

Just a guess here, but I reckon 'sports science' could be involved here.

Taking a player off at half-time is tantamount to saying "you've been crap" or "I got it wrong". It seems to be the done thing to give a below par player 15 minutes to turn to his performance round or to give the starting XI 15 minutes to adapt to your tactical change.
You've also got factors such as allowing the other team to tire as much as possible before introducing fresh players, but also allowing that fresh player time to play their way into the game.
Then, in a tight game, there's the simple matter of 'who blinks first?'.

Might well be a case of talking to the team at half time , doing a couple of tweaks , and giving a little time for the desired change to come to fruition . Saturday emphasised this as we came out strongly in the second half and any changes came later in the game - trust in Parky he knows what he is doing !

Hows about if Parkie wants to wait and see how his half time changes work and if/how the opposition have changed players/formation before he makes any player changes?
