talk about loyalty, i got a vauge memory of Shearer putting SFC down by saying we had no amibition on MOTD, just after he joined Blackburn ( i know it was record signing for the time), then a bit later joining NUFC as some sort of God, coming to the Dell, losing, walking off the pitch with a face like a torn arsehole mouthing swear words to the cameras. If we didnt have MLT doing the biz back then would Shearer have run off so quick? he would have been our big fish? I cant really remember him ever having a good word for Saints on Telly, we were the only club to spot his potential, NUFC had rejected him as a school boy and i think other clubs were not interested. So if AOC kisses every club badge in the Prem/Champ/L1/L2 id be happy, cos he remembers who gave him the break.
the geordies were moaning the other day saying that le tissier said bad things about newcastle because his career was outshined by shearer
well, its probably true, but did Shearer ever Captain an Internation side (i know only a B team) and score a hatrick and get an assist? Shearers England career was pretty good, but what if Sheringham was not there to set him up?, never seen Shearer take a game by the scruff of its neck, he only played well if everyone played well.
It doesn't bother me that he's kissing the Arsenal badge. He had a great season for us and is a brilliant talent who will be playing for England in the next few years. He is a sensible lad and I for one didn't begrudge him the move (Although Arsenal are pretty shocking atm).
Don't have no objection to him kissing the badge, it shows he has passion for his new club which should be applauded. Can you honestly say if Lambo scored and kissed the badge you wouldn't feel immense pride in your own club and player? Obviosily the fact that it was against Shrewsbury, in the League Cup 3rd Round is a bit laughable...
It's basically not British and is rarely seen, but makes more sense if it's a) an important game or b) your farewell match. However, it's not a hanging offence.
For f*** sake he is a 18. Give him a break. I went to the game on Tuesday and he was the best player on the pitch. He is entitled to do what he wants. Football is a mercenaries game.
Haha people saying it's not a hanging offence, don't think anyone said it was, just said that it is a thing we didn't like,it's sad when you have only been at a club for a month.I don't like it and never have and i'm not gonna change my mind anytime soon.
I am so glad that no-one was following me around with a camera recording everything that I did when I was 18! I think Alex has behaved admirably for so young a man, and he had publicly expressed his gratitude to Saints. As far the badge kissing is concerned I am not a great fan, but it's understandable in the joy of the moment. I might well believe that another year with Saints would have been better for his development, but he will have signed a contract with Arsenal to a value that he will never need to work again. How many of us, hand on heart, could say we would turn that down?
Give the guy a break guys......He was followed every where by reporters in the last few months he was here. His loyalty is with Arsenal now, not with Saints. This kissing of the badge thing is just a sign of the times. You cannot blame him for trying to make a go of it. Good luck to the guy and do for goodness sake remember Saints are to make a mint out of him. We should not bare him any bad feelings.
Applause to Beddytare and Channonfodder - exactly the point I was trying to make. Wish him well and move on.
