That’s not a solution though because our three are nowhere near as efficient, nor as effective as Pool’s. Our style is nothing like Pool’s too so again it just doesn’t work. Spurs need a central striker, Giroud is probably very low down the list as to who many of us would’ve wanted but nonetheless he still offers more as a striker than any of Dele, Son or Lucas. He’s very similar to Llorente, who as we saw last season, is extremely effective when utilised correctly.

Correct. Pool's system works because their FBs are fecking amazing. Ours are ****.

No his record at Palace is truly appalling I would rather try and get Glenn Murray who can't get a game at Brighton, or I am sure that I saw somewhere that Salomon Rondon could be available for loan.

Benteke is a widnae.

Murray is a good shout. Had a decent record last season, knows the league, home grown and is an absolute bully.

A clear transfer policy has emerged for Spurs. Buy young players with potential, but some level of proven already.
Presumably to ensure a resale value of they prove not to be an ideal fit.
Is Mourinho the manager to make this work given his track record of wanting to buy the finished article for maximum impact as quickly as possible?
Is it just a recognition that Spurs can't - or don't want to- compete in the transfer market he would normally want to recruit from?

I would think that this was the market he was told he was working in when he signed up for the job - maybe it's time for him to show that he can operate in a different way to the spend spend spend he has used in the past.

No PUM PUM PUM PUM for DH :(

I saw an interesting thread on Twitter this morning from an English journalist based in Italy who covers Serie A for an English speaking audience. He obviously follows the game week on week and basically said that Piatek plays like a player whose confidence is totally crushed, to the point that even when he tries the simple things it goes to ****. He continues to say that bringing him in to an underperforming Spurs side to replace Kane would be madness. Hertha are a mid table nobody side who would be grateful to stay up and that is more or less where he belongs to rebuild his confidence.

Have to say I agree with that. We'd been there before with Janssen watching his confidence visibly drain by the week.

Which is why - for the time being - it makes so much sense to go for a player at the end of their career with nothing left to prove and therefore no confidence issues. This is why Llorente succeeded where Janssen failed. And it is why Giroud makes a lot of sense as a short term fix.

Then you need to get a move on and offer more than £10m
Lazio are trying to sign Giroud and offering a two and half year contract.
Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign William Jose.

Not many left to chase in one day.
