What's happening with skippy has he gone out on loan with parrot cos they both need proper game time either play em or loan em out don't leave em doing feck all
Giroud, Cavani, Piatek and Willian Jose are all surely better options than using Son, Dele or Lucas as a false 9 There’s no excuses for Spurs not to have signed a striker since Llorente left.
One thing of note, Dortmund don't play with a striker at all, instead a front three of Hazard, Reus and Sancho (with Haaland presumably replacing Hazard shortly) Looking at that, does a front three of Lucas, Son and Bergwijn not strike anyone as a possibility for the remainder of the season?
They could be effective, as a 3 but Lucas looks tired and Sonny out of form, just think that to be competitive we need an experienced CF even if its only as plan B
It could work with Lo Celso and Ndombele behind them loading the bullets and passing through the lines. The problem is that both Lucas and Son aren't great team players and tend to play for themselves a bit more and probably better than they link with others. Bergwijn is said to be a lot moreof a team player. However, there's some serious pace there and it could be fabulous on the counter...if we could defend and pass forward a lot better. So, if we can tighten up at the back and get Ndombele fit.........frankly, it'll be a miracle...
Exactly right. There is no such thing as a 'striker'. All players have subtly different combinations of skills. You should play your best available players in whatever formation they will be most effective.
Which would be a good question...but it doesn't address the issue of how a player like Giroud can possibly improve any plausible team we could put out.
Because he has a combination of skills that none of our other players do. Mainly being able to play as a striker.
Would you play Son or Lucas at right back because they’re better players than Aurier? If the answer is no, that’s why most of us want Giroud (or any natural striker) in the side as a centre forward over Son/ Dele/ Lucas. Is Giroud a better player than those three? No. Is he a better striker than those three? Absolutely.
I understand your viewpoint but this goes well beyond the starting XI. Jose has all but written on the changing room wall that he doesn't think Parrott is ready and has little to no intention of using him. Even having Giroud on the bench would improve our match day options drastically, as was the case when Llorente was here. It allows for a complete change of system and, as both City and Ajax discovered in the CL, sometimes the opposition is ill-prepared for that change and can't cope with it. Our current stance of going into games without a recognised striker on the pitch and also the bench is madness.
In the case of Aurier the solution is to play him as a wing back and not have an orthodox right back. In the case of Dele, Lucas and Son the solution is to play them in the same roles as Firmino, Mane and Salah and not have an orthodox striker. If we could get someone as good as Origi then that would give us more options but I just don't think players like Giroud are going to get on the pitch enough.
Bit late to the show , I would like to wish Danny a big thank you for all the service he's given this club , shame it ended like it did but only he knows the reasons behind the decline in the last months at our club , let's remember the good times, the worldie on his debut against that lot , the period he was the best left back in the prem that goal against the chavs and the way he would not back down when a fellow team mate was in trouble Thank you Danny Rose and good luck mate
I actually think that this is what we should've been doing and I suggested as much quite a while ago. Alli playing on the left of a midfield three clearly doesn't suit either him or the team and Moura isn't a striker, by his own admission. We'd still need to sign a proper striker to give us another option though, in my opinion. As for Origi being miles better than Giroud, I think that's very much up for debate. Very different players, too.
That’s not a solution though because our three are nowhere near as efficient, nor as effective as Pool’s. Our style is nothing like Pool’s too so again it just doesn’t work. Spurs need a central striker, Giroud is probably very low down the list as to who many of us would’ve wanted but nonetheless he still offers more as a striker than any of Dele, Son or Lucas. He’s very similar to Llorente, who as we saw last season, is extremely effective when utilised correctly.
Not signing s striker is a sure sign that the club is writing off this season and looking at next season imo...shsme cos 4th placd is still a possibility no mstter how difficult...ssme as the fa cup.
