My only real memory of the day was the parting of the crowd all around me as a big bloke declared he was going to have a piss on the terraces. I don`t think I got wet - my brother firmly believes I did! We argue about it even now!
Great memories of that day I used to work in Norwich up until 1982 having left Sunderland 3 years earlier I was waiting at the station for my SAFC supporting mate to get off the Norwich train, for some reason I didn’t see any need not to wear my SAFC colours I think Norwich were one of the only teams that you could do that then no troulbe whatsoever just friendly banter Anyway my mate was late, and all of the Norwich fans got off the train to go to the tubes. I think that I must have met about 25 – 30 people who I used to know from Norwich – it was great meeting old mates Me and my mate and 5 Norwich fans went for a drink on the way to the game and had a right craic Pity about the game. I still watch a video of the match every so often
Blimey. Annabels, that takes me back. Remember, The old 29, Trax, Upper deck, Continentals, and the creme dela creme. The Barbary Coast. Good times for fighting whether you wanted to or not.
Can't remember ever going to Fusion. It was always seen as a place for older folks (21+) when I was a kid.
Mate it was a total pick up joint. The lasses in there were mostly in their 30's & just looking for a shag.
I bet you did. Me Mam was a nurse back then. I can remember her saying the baby unit was bloody busy.
I was there, **** game, great atmosphere. It's fantastic that there has been such a great relationship between our clubs since that day, a credit to both sets of supporters.
Getting pi**ed on by some drunken supporter behind me, but was all forgotten at the end. Can laugh about it now.
Yet another great weekend ruined by the match. We went down for the full weekend with the Sacriston WMC bus. That was a ****ing helluva story and a half on its own. Lol Absolutely brilliant weekend in the smoke (I was 21 and life was just a big party anyway) but the 90 mins was one of the worst finals in living memory. Both sides were utter ****e but we were just a bit more ****e in the end. I remember Lord Rowell lifting the cup to the Sunderland fans that day as well. Cried me bloody eyes out then got on the bus for the long journey home. We stopped off at a workman's club in Leicester on the way back and got totally hammered. All the stuff that has come out since, form Ashurst and some players, about the backroom shenanigans running up to the game; big soft ****e Colin 'Jessie' West dropped and Ian Wallace playing; Barry 'White leather pants' Venison turning up having done a private boot deal when all the players said they would pool any sponsorship deals (caused a right old stink apparently amongst the players); the sack-less way to concede a goal and the 1st ever penalty miss in a cup final at Wembley. Good old ****e-hole Wembley. Yes, just another weekend in the life of a Sunderland fan though eh lads? Still, we will stuff the Canaries on Monday. Wont we? Lol "Lets be 'Avin you yellows"
Fusion - bloody hell man that takes me back. Chunky - were you in when Tight Fit appeared live one midweek night- In the Jungle the mighty jungle. Lol The bloke was a twat but the 2 birds on with him were fit as ****. That must be 25 years ago that. Christ I'm getting old. Ha! Ha!
