No I think it Noels House party or something like that. Was there a bit called MTV, where they went round peoples houses and surprised them?

It had something to do with a mate of mine who was a Star Wars fanatic. He made cine camera movies and my moment of fame was getting kicked in the Bollocks and collapsing like house of cards.

There was a story at the time, that in the bit of the program where they went live to someones house which had been set up with CCTV cameras without the persons knowledge, the person in question was actually having a **** to something on another channel (may have been Gladiators?)

That was the one with Kempton? Makes sense why he is a bit vague about the details.
    Probably Jet from Gladiators.

    Damned right.
My claim to fame is that my left ear was photographed at a school prize giving when the then Archbishop of Durham (formerly with York) (later to become Archie of Canterbury) was presenting an award to the best looking lass at our school that year, and I was standing behind her in the line-up.
The caption in the HDM read " Soon to be famous ear steals the limelight from Bishop."

It was such a magnificent ear, that I believe Dali ( or was it Magritte ) immortalized it :emoticon-0104-surpr :emoticon-0100-smile

Edit: I'm surprised there hasn't been a movie made yet entitled "My Left Ear". Didn't that one "My left Foot" win the odd award ?

That is funny, because I once got the ball in my plums three times in one game.

I played on till the end of the game as well.

    I never had kids :emoticon-0101-sadsm

I play in goal a lot, and in about a two minutes spell I got hit in the face about 5 times with the ball (explains why i'm so ugly) then to finish me off went to collect a high ball and their striker decided he had had enough of me and full force kicked me in the bollocks. didn't help him as I still got the ball.
Then later in the match they got a corner and I had a quiet word with my biggest defender and we made sure he ended up in the back of the net and not the ball :)

Was a good game and I was very happy with the clean sheet, and me and the striker had a few pints together and are now good friends, What happens on the pitch and all that..

You had a prize for the best looking girl in the school? There was none of that sexism at the Grammar School when I was there.

I once copped one but I carried on making a solo run and scoring before I collapsed in pain in the back of the net. I declined the cold sponge.

If I might jump unashamedly on to the ‘local authors’ bandwagon, could I point anyone interested in local history, in the direction of a book I have written, initially as part of my family history research. It is a fictionalised account of my grandfather’s life (and death) in World War One. He was from Hull and served in the East Yorks Regiment. It is based on his service record and family documents and much of it involves exchanges of correspondence between him and his family, reflecting life on the Front and also back home. I’m not interested in selling copies but it is available on Kindle, under the name of ‘The Beguiling of Innocents’ by R.P. Kitching.

I do have three more pure fictional novels on there but they are ‘light humour’ and quite different from this one

Wow, well if this thread doesn't just make me feel ashamed of myself <laugh>

I did Creative Writing at uni, it's my passion, writing is, but I gave it up to teach after I hit a writer's block a few years ago. Now I don't have time to write anymore. Which hurts, actually, because for my mental health it was incredibly good for me.

I was always more of a screenwriter, but I never figured anything I wrote was any good. Maybe it's time to make time for it, see if I've still got it.

Go for it!! Get back into it.....plenty of people only use teaching as an interim solution....do what makes you happy!

This is the thing, though, I adore my job. Teaching young children is an amazing privilege. There aren’t many professions where they work you to death and you don’t care because you want to see those 27 faces the next day.

But I am a writer at heart and I did once have a kids book written for 5-7 year olds, but anxiety stopped me approaching publishers. I’m hoping I can beat it, my dream is to read a book I wrote for my little girl’s bed time.
