Liverpool have option to extend midfielder’s contract – No need to rush his sale

The Brazilian press continues to bring news about the future of Allan, who will return to being a Liverpool player at the start of the January.

The midfielder’s loan deal with Fluminense is expiring at the end of December, and there are now a couple of clubs who would like to keep him in Brazil.
He must be in his fifties by now?

50 million for maguire would be fair considering the english tax. Hed be a top class cb 15 years ago, now not so much.

I remember when he came back from england and was touted as one of the worlds best, even a couple on here where thinking we could of signed him.

Hes a solid cb, doesnt make mistakes and reads the game well. Next to a top class cb hed fit in well, as the number one hes lacking.

£50m CB not a #1 - the mind boggles, it really does <yikes>

I have no idea as im not a scout but there must be players abroad that are at least equal to him for less than that.

However, I'm not a fan and wouldn't want to sign him if he were free so probably a bit biased too.
I have no beef with Maguire apart from him costing us the league lol
VVD’s importance to Liverpool is huge - can’t compare him to Laporte imho - as I said other night on prem board Kompany was the one that city have missed imho
However I still think you would have been better spending a bit more and making an offer Napoli couldn’t refuse for Koulibaly - really like the look of him

100% agree with that. Quality defender

It’s good seeing United waste so much money. £80m on a slow centre back and £50m on a right back who can tackle but can’t pass a ball to save his life. He makes Gomez look like Dani Alves.

Disagree mate, Laporte is worth at least as much as you paid for VvD so good business by City. That said, how much would a CB like Kompany or Rio cost these days.
Are you suggesting that Rio and Kompany are better than VVD?.

Kompany was signed as a defensive midfielder not as a CB and wouldn't be that expensive ,say £20m, tops as he wasn't massively rated at the time.

PS Kompany got away with murder imo as every season he committed at least 1 dreadful challenge yet seemed to always to get at most a yellow .

Not suggesting mate, stating.

In every generation, there’s a standout defender, just as there are stand out forwards.

It is as clear as daylight that Virgil is the best defender in the world atm. Nobody can argue that, surely?

Kompany May have been the best before injuries ravaged him but Rio was only ever touted as ‘one of the best’. Very few players are ever stand out better than every other player in their position like VvD.

Agreed.

VVD has no weakness. Special player.
