The successful bids were made to the John Ellerman Foundation for £170,000 and Arts Council England Designation Development Fund for £88,113.

"Please encourage your children & grandchildren to consider 'The Whiteley Walk' when writing their suggestions at school. Let's honour John Whiteley. The footbridge is where Clive Sullivan Way meets Roger Millward Way. John played for [HASHTAG]#hullfc[/HASHTAG] & coached [HASHTAG]#hullkr[/HASHTAG] The perfect name!"

Is it ****.

Whitely is worthy of much respect but another RL themed road/street/bridge is not what a dynamic forward-looking city needs.

If rugby fans had their way all the streets would still be cobbled and women would wear headscarves..
