This is different, the legal system in the USA.

Weinstein settles with his accusers for a total sum of 25 million dollars. This is to be divvyed up between them. No going to court for the rape and abuse charges, no apology, and it's some insurance company that will pay the money anyway.

It's a mad world.

Despite the $25 mill settlement he still faces a criminal trial next month on rape and sexual assault charges - if he weren't a multi-millionaire he'd be facing life in jail but, he'll get the best justice money can buy.

Really? I understood this was an out of court settlement, as in the end of it.

How do you insure yourself against getting caught being a sexual predator, and how do they set the risk based premiums? Even asking for it must make you high risk.

As I understand it's his company insurance paying out. I guess it would be normal for such a policy to have an unspecified liability sum insured included.

I went to the Off License yesterday on my bicycle, bought a bottle of 15 year old single malt whisky and put it in the front basket of my bike

As I was about to head off home, it occurred to me that if I fell off the bike, the bottle would break. So I drank all the whisky before I cycled home.

It turned out to be a good thing I did, because I fell off seven times on the way home!

After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, Canadian scientists found
Traces of copper wire dating back 200 years and came to the conclusion that
Their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago.

Not to be outdone by their neighbours, in the weeks that followed, an American
Archaeologist dug to a depth of 20 feet, and shortly after, a story published in the New York Times:
"American archaeologists, finding traces of 250-year-old copper wire, have concluded that their
Ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network 50 years earlier than the Canadians".

One week later, the British authorities reported the following:
"After digging as deep as 30 feet in North Yorkshire, Jack Arkwright, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely f*** all.
Jack has therefore concluded that 250 years ago, Britain had already gone wireless."

Just makes you bloody proud to be British, don't it!

Our cat has died.
I told my wife.
'Are you sure?' she said.
'Yes, I pissed in it's ear and it didn't move'.
'You did what?' she said horrified (it was her cat really).
'I went pssst in it's ear and it didn't move'.

No?
Ok, no problem.
