I think that he's been told that walking around the place, with a face like a smacked arse, isn't doing anyone any good. It doesn't mean he won't be doing it, though. We shall see....
I think he reacts badly to adversity at times - which is a trait of someone who is used to being successful. Of course, SAF did it at times too. He has more options to resolve issues at Spurs - assuming he can get all the players on board. He's certainly managed to inject some energy into Spurs' performances so far - epitomised by the sudden and dramatic upturn in form of Dele Alli.
That's as much about playing Alli in position and giving Alderweireld a license to go direct as anything, I think. We're still playing the usual stuff, but we're quicker on the break and happy to hit balls past the midfield. Makes it a lot harder to teams to press right up the pitch.
In the last year, we had become predictable, slow and almost sterile. We'd gone full Van Gaal and it was only a matter of time before possession stats were the order of the day. Players at the outer edge of the squad, like Llorente, Foyth (at right back) and Lucas were turning in our best performances. The first choice XI were producing less and less. Now that we're not ****ing about with the ball at the back at every opportunity, Toby Alderweireld has the space to play long and exploit Dele's ability to ghost in behind defences. It's simple and direct but it used to work and it's doing so again.
Would you say the only floor tacklin center half we have is Jan. I think a few goals we have conceded have come through the middle. The other two are good in the air but lose their man often!
The Tottenham Hotspur "spiral" watch. Came across this thread by accident.Over 350 comments. I didn't realise that other fans were secret Spurs fans. Isn't that nice?
The tv people have cut the Sheff U game to talk and show the bloody Arsenal.Who wants to watch that load of...……?!
Tottenham: Let's just be **** this season and be the banter club of the big six. Arsenal: Hold my beer.
