That's hardly the festive spirit is it ?

I'll pout some decent ones on the table for the Christmas dinner. The 'stock' red is Faustino V and Campo Viejo, they're both decent enough.

Haven't looked at the white she bought, probably some pish Pinot Grig and Sauvignon blanc. I don't drink white in winter.

With ice, of course.

a pint of council pop is the one

It's mad how much planning goes into all this but I do enjoy it, I have a week off so I can really chill. New Gin Bar opened in town and it looks really good, serving Brooklyn Lager on tap so we'll give that a go this weekend.

Done all the menus of what we're having and when, I'll do the gravy next weekend and freeze as ususal.

Bet that Brooklyn is not cheap per pint. Some of the decent beers are ****ing ridiculous now, I was charged a flat fiver for a pint of Moretti in a **** pub in Caldicot the other week.

Haven't bought beer yet, i'm reliably told that i'll be given at least one slab of beer by our client here. The problem with that is their stock beers are Stella, Bud, Becks and Boddingtons.

They do seem to be the transport hub for other stuff that's actually drinkable though, i'll see what's offered.

Already got my wine. Will buy a bottle of Port, a bottle of Merlyn and will hopefully be given other stuff by our suppliers. I'm out of single malt at the minute, not that I drink that at Christmas. Or even much at all.

I'm expecting £4+ but I'd rather pay that than put up with the usual crap.

Slab of boddingtons would be ok surely. Session beer and draught so is usually ok.

Well, you'd think. But I remember actual Boddingtons very fondly indeed.

Brewed at Strangeways, proper hand drawn ale, none of this cream flow ****e that's brewed in ****ing Newport.

We have our fortnightly meetings in the Boddingtons room ffs. Makes me shudder.

The Farmers Arms and The Weavers in Swinton, that's where Boddingtons was at its peak.

As far as ale goes out of a can you can’t go wrong with stuff with a widget. Quoffable and acceptable to drink at 9am

Boddingtons was always the uber session ale. Could literally drink it all ****ing day.

Superb.

Just isn't the same beer anymore.
