Wasn't there some bloke in the news recently who used a metal detector to try and find a lost wedding ring and ended up finding £100k worth of gold coins? Jammy git.

Probably. I've been metal detecting about two hundred times and still haven't found any gold. What I need to do is retire then go three times per week. Trouble is all the recording, photographing, measuring then liaisons with the FLO and coroners would make it a full-time occupation. Of course some people don't bother with all that but they shouldn't be allowed to own a metal detector.
