For me, this question is like saying what if the Brexit party or Lib Dem’s gain power, it just isn’t going to happen. Conservatives better walk this election and IF Labour gain power under Corbyn Brexit or Remain will seem minuscule compared to the rest of the problems we’ll suffer under him.

I think having these forms of TV debates trivialises politics to the point of it becoming entertainment akin to a beauty pageant or big brother.

There are many ways to "gain power" in the first past the post system. Just look to the DUP in the last parliament.

I have many friends who voted remain but believe we should do what we voted for. I would be a hypocrite if I didn't accept the result of another vote.
If, and it makes me shudder to even consider it, Labour won the election, I would accept Corbyn as PM, Abbott as Home Sec etc..... Just until I sold my house and found some other country to live in :)

I think there are processes in place now to delist companies that fail to meet specific financial parameters. These rules are known and warning are issued when companies breach them, I understand. If environmental criteria were added to these purely financial triggers for delisting then I could see how it would be possible. This is the basis of the triple bottom line accounting system where Financial, Social and Environmental parameters are reported annually. A lot of companies currently do this. Delisting would mean that the shareholders still owned the shares etc and life would continue but trading of these shares would become more difficult as they would be privately rather than publicly traded and so issuing more shares to raise money more complicated. I suspect it's a big stick to encourage companies to act responsibly towards the environment. It's easily avoided though by moving your listing from London to one that doesn't have these constraints (I don't know how difficult this move would be). Not good for the London Stock exchange potentially.

Only if their share price drops below a certain level. It is only if a company is involved in a takeover or a merger or the management want to take it private.
What Labour is proposing could mean that BP is delisted from the FTSE 100!
    It's just ludicrous

I suppose it depends what your view is on climate change. If you feel it is all right for a company to take out natural resources, increase greenhouse gas emmisions etc for the benefit of their shareholders then that is one position. Another position could be that it is fine to do business the way companies act now but the consequences of causing polution etc for short term profits should be taken into account in the trading value and those companies that act more responsibility in relation to the environment and social issues should be rewarded, in order to set a level playing field for all companies. I don't think it is ludicrous In fact TBL is a way of holding companies to account for the environmental, social and financial promises they make to their shareholders. Your example of BP is unlikely to occur as they are an adopter of the TBL.

You obviously didn't see my posts on the climate change thread :)
I think the climate has been hijacked by a political and media hysteria. It has become like a religion that cannot be questioned.
The science isn't proven. Is CO2 the cause or the symptom? How much of a part does water vapour, methane and other greenhouse gases play? How much of the 0.9 degree warming since pre industrial times is natural?
    These questions aren't being asked. I'm not a denier, I'm a skeptic.

I would agree with you, I had to laugh watching the news the other day which covered the Green Party manifesto, basically they plan to have the UK totally emission free by 2030, in order to achieve this they will borrow £100b a year(**** knows who from) but reckon by introducing a tax on meat it will pay for itself, no doubt formula 1 racing is for the high jump if these beardy freaks(and thats just the ladies) get into power.<cheers>

I’m voting Conservative. The other options are a bunch of undemocratic, unelectable ****s (apart from the Brexit Party. A few of their candidates elected into Parliament would be good but they’re not standing in my constituency as it’s already Tory)

Would never, ever vote tory as I have a conscience & a memory.

Agree that the alternative is to vote for clowns. Quite a quandary, but have got a get out of jail card as I've left it too late to get a postal vote as I've off on holibags tomorrow.

    However ....

.... this tweet has sharpened my thinking. I could put up with one of the other clowns, as their temporary fukkups are correctable. Losing the NHS is not correctable, and the rumours appear to be firming up as fact now. The views in this clip are those of medical professionals, not lunatic lefties. They should be listened to.....

Hope you get better soon then, 'cos the NHS might not be there to help you soon. <whistle>

Is it scaremongering? Have you checked their facts against the 'facts' of the tories?

    I doubt it.

    I get that.

Frankly, this is the most wide-open GE we've ever had. Brexit crosses party lines & we have 2 knobs leading the biggest parties. Result may be unknown at this point, but the outcome is very well known - disaster. We just don't know what flavour yet. We're becoming Italy. <doh>
