According to Ehab, around two-thirds of Championship clubs offer the same as us, the other third offer concessions on top.

Some might be surprised about which club this is...

'Concession match ticket prices are available to: Senior Citizens aged 65+, Young Adults aged between 19 and 22 and Disabled Supporters'.

'A concession price is available for disabled supporters irrespective of their level of Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payment'.

'In order to be accompanied by a personal assistant at no extra cost, a disabled supporter must be in receipt of Disability Living Allowance at the medium or higher rate or the enhanced rate of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)'.

There are two issues getting confused here.

People in wheelchairs can have a carer come with them. At City the wheelchair user pays full whack, the carer gets in for free. That’s similar to most Championship clubs (though some offer a discount as well as a free carer ticket).

The issue at City relates to ambulant disabled people, who used to get a discount on proof of disability but since 2012 don’t. I’m not aware of any club at championship level that offers such a discount any more - which of course doesn’t make it alright, but it is a fact.
I should clarify - my statement about other clubs not offering concessions to ambulant disabled people relates to the tickets available to away fans when City are in town. I now see that some clubs offer concessions to ambulant disabled people through their home fans season ticket offer, as mentioned above by OLM.

Having looked at a few websites for other Championship clubs, it is clear that most do offer concessions of some description to ambulant disabled people that are home supporters. Apologies if I gave the opposite impression, my previous post was based solely on what City fans get offered in the away end.

Hull City are a clear outlier here.

Here is the current offer to ambulant disabled supporters for clubs above us in the Championship table:

  • West Bromwich Albion - yes, 50% discount
  • Preston North End - no discount but free carer ticket available
  • Leeds United - yes, 33% discount, free carer ticket available
  • Swansea City - yes
  • Nottingham Forest - unclear - but what is clear, there is a lot of admin to access a free carer ticket
  • Bristol City - yes
  • Fulham - yes, 50% discount
  • Sheffield Wednesday - yes, £10 discount
  • Brentford - yes
  • QPR - yes, 50% discount, free carer ticket available
  • Charlton - yes, £2 discount, free carer ticket available
