You see, we up here in the North (south to Steel) are a funny bunch. A lot of my mates dont describe themselves as 'working class' anymore, despite working just to get by. They have it in their heads that 'working class' are poor people with jobs who have to use food banks or bulk their income with benefits. They shop at Waitrose to try justify their belief. They vote Tory as they really dont want to see themselves in the 'working class category'. Society has changed, they will reap what they sow.

I'm what most would probably categorise as middle class, but still consider myself working class because my parents were.

I'm truly shocked Staines! My hat goes off to you. This is a prime example of the society we live in. The life savers of the world get paid less than people who stack shelves or sit on their arse tapping into a computer ( might be important though so tongue in cheek there).
And do you really think anything will ever change for the significant better, as it ****ing should, by ticking a box and 'choosing' which bunch of ****s you want to kneecap you next?

Fair play Staines. It's quite something to make a life decision based on passion rather than necessity. You've inspired me to keep thinking about creating a dog shelter, I think that's my calling.

Yougov poll tonight gives Tories a 14 point lead on labour.
YouGov who would make the best PM 40% Boris 16% Jezza and 14% Swinson
:emoticon-0100-smile

I spoke to someone in the pub tonight who said they were going to vote Labour. A much more reliable guide.

Or there's the bookies. Paddy Power have it:

Tory Majority 8/11
No Overall Majority 5/4
Labour Majority 20/1

To be fair to comrade Eeliov, I think hes called it right. The Tories will win and I believe they will get a majority, especially when you hear of thick twats from Bishop Auckland, who works in the NHS but cant vote for labour due to Corbyn. Cant give a reason why but just cant! Like I say, its people like these who will have to live with their choice and I hope to god they never have the audacity to moan about it!

That's good Stroller...make sure you are around on the 13th.
Apparently the Brexit party maybe ditching 20 more seats to help Boris get an even bigger majority. :emoticon-0100-smile

The actual figure for my hourly rate is £12.3834......funny thing is we recently had a review and got upgraded. The hourly rate before the upgrade was £10.7853 !!!!.

Cant complain ‘cos I went into the job knowing the pay wasn’t great but I do sometimes feel it would be easier working at Tesco’s for near enough the same pay....less stress for sure.

My missus has been a qualified nurse for over 20 years, is the lead nurse in charge of the medical team in the local prison (after 18 years on a surgical ward), and earns about £1 an hour more than the burger flippers are campaigning for - it's a disgrace. Same as you Staines, she's always late out of work, sometimes gets dragged in out of hours if there's an emergency, and gets very little thanks from the management, although her client group seem to be grateful. She feels safer in the prison than she did on the wards, where nursing staff were regularly assaulted.

Mate, I'd consiser myself working class, definately don't have any pretentions of grandeur - I shop in Aldi, Lidl and Home Bargains (dead posh, me!), graft like **** in all weathers, haven't had a holiday for nearly 2 years (three weeks to go...) won't be voting Tory (or any other ****er this time - sunlounger awaits). Working class is nothing to be ashamed of, but there is now a class below, those really struggling to survive and feed their kids due to austerity, reliant on hand-outs and food banks (I'm not talking about benefits scroungers or cheats either - they are just scum)

Theres good money to be earned of you get a good reputation. My problem is finding good lads to work for me. Got a great Polish lad (more a yorkshire man now) and on my 4th apprentice! No youngsters are going into the trade anymore. Did have another great plasterer but he kept overdosing every other week and I just couldn't have him on the job.

My two young lads (10 yr olds) are in no way whatsoever academic and are already struggling to keep up in maths and English.......rest assured I’ll be trying to get them to take up a trade.

None of us in the NHS do it to get rich, that’s for sure mate. Good on the McDs workers though......get what you can, if you can......working at some fast food place is great for teenagers who don’t give a **** and need the cash while doing studies or looking for something better. It can create a good work ethic in the youngsters.
My eldest did it for a year...then moved on to Tesco’s, which was a step up for him.....and now he’s just started his training for the Police. Well proud of him and his commitment :)

My boy has been working since he was 13, car wash, gardening, kebab shop and now waiting, where he earns the grand total of £4.35 an hour - slave labour!
