    Here's a dumb question.
Why does any football Club have control over tickets sold for seats in another Club's ground?

If I want to go to the away end at Millwall, for example, why can't I buy a ticket directly from them?
I'm going to their stadium after all.
As long as I can verify I'm not a Millwall fan trying to get into the away stand to cause trouble, I can't see the problem.

99% of the time it's okay to buy tickets as a neutral.

At the old Den before segregation I used to find the biggest group of coppers and stand next to them.

If I was going to watch a game as a neutral, I would probably choose to go in with the home fans.

Away supporters mostly want to stand up all the time and sing, which is fair enough.
But if I was going to a game as a neutral I'd probably prefer to watch the game itself, so I would choose a quieter part of the home stands, in an ideal world.

Granted, Millwall is not a good example of the point I was making, as the rivalry means there have to be great efforts made to restrict or regulate sales.
But let's say I want to go to (for example) Birmingham City v Charlton, as an away fan.

If I want to buy a seat in Birmingham's stadium, should I not be able to do that, directly from BCFC?
Why should I have to go to CAFC and jump over loads of hoops in order to get a ticket.

    This isn't a wind up. It's a genuine question.

Back in the 80s you could easily pick up £5 in change on a visit to the Den.

All you had to do was catch it as it flew towards your head.

I actually couldn’t give a flying tit, if we’ve sold out I’ll go in the home end. You know the drill-stand up when they stand up,sit down when they sit down.

Saying that I did get started on when we played Swindon away in the playoffs.

My crime-not cheering when they scored.

Reminds me of the time I was in with the home fans at Southampton when we beat them 0-1 with 10 men (Semedo sent off)
One of my rare away days - I would go away more often if they could all be like that one.

'07? 3 days later went to Ashton Gate and 1-0 again.

Carbon copy goal Reid to Chris Ulamoo(cannot spell his name!). @DickPlumb were you at these games? I was.

That was the one. Saints had Bradley Wright-Phillips, and we still had a few Premiership players.
Chris Iwelumo (spell it as you say it) was the man who stuck it in very late on.

Chris Ulamoo was going to sign in the summer of 2016, but a couple of fans slagged him off on CL so he went to Sheffield United instead.

With my paltry 335 loyalty points I don't expect to see any more away local derbies. Should get in to the Forest away game though, which is midweek.

I have been to so many games home and away. U18 u23 U21 reserve in my fifty eight years as a Charlton fan it is difficult to remember them all.
