Be a good while on metro there set off the day before and could get a set fare taxi back for like 20 quid but think probably charge more than that :emoticon-0149-no:

Hate metros as well recently with new contract been getting them as easier to drive to Northumberland Park and ride and go to Central. It makes me feel old as now even college people look young and the school kids annoy me :headbang:

I reckon I should have been born 40 years sooner tbh :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Stick to the beer/lager mate I only really drink Stella but I need to start hitting the gym harder... getting a beer gut so only going to sup at weekends and gym through week (I say that I will try but do a fair bit exercise working though)

I'm a big lad so I could easily drink 8 pints Stella and be merry not mortal but the calories in that... plus if I do want to get pissed be another 6 as don't do spirits. Done too much stupid things after vodka/whisky/tequila never again <cheers>

My Grandpa did. He used to be the bloke that blew the seams. He'd drill a load of holes, pack them with dynamite, light it and run like the clappers out the way :emoticon-0104-surpr

One day, they hadn't put enough props in and the ceiling fell in on him shattering his legs and pelvis. Luckily he was good at maths and they gave him a stock control job in the pit stores once he'd recovered. Had he not been clever, they'd have been left destitute with three children.

Scary to think that times like that were not that far in the past.

Was nuts no health and safety at all he passed away when he was 68 I think I was only about 6-7.

I can remember once my mam going offit with him as I was messing about and he gave me a slap on leg but he only thought it was a tap that wouldn't have hurt me. He was absolutey gutted can still remember him apologising to this day.

Had a proper red hand mark <doh> his hand's were like rock probably could have picked up hot coal that man just wish had longer to get to know him rather than stories.

Not a lot. My boys Dad walked out when they were tiny and chose not to keep in touch. They've never really had a Dad at all.

No man that can't understand if I had a bairn he would be the apple of my eye's I pretty much treat my nephew like that as he lives with my sister and dad hardly bothers.

His loss tbh he's a right little character and now a Sunderland fan :emoticon-0103-cool:

Said he want's to be a keeper as asks will he be as tall as me so going to start taking him to some lessons and buy a net.

My Dad was a coal face hewer who's tools were a lump hammer, spike and pick axe.

He was paid sixpence a shift 'water money' if it came above his waist.

No wonder he was such a hard man in every way ...

... as people have said this was just basic reality in recent times.
