I think everyone needs to take a step back, its a message board, as is this place. This is all, don't take anything you read on either board back into real life.

It's not hard to understand that the majority of decent L1 managers would take one look at Stewie and Chaz, one look at our knackered first team and one look at our unhappy fans and say "no way I'm taking that on mid season"

It hurts to type this but we're lucky to have PP

Never was my first choice but I'm warming to him. Job wise it has been a poison chalice for many but he seems to have changed our style.of play already which surprised me. Unfortunately our strikers are letting us down and have done since maja left. A lot of the reason for that lies in the way ross set the team up and the football he advocated.
Not sure if he would make the grade but someone like that shankland is what we need. Changed clubs but still banging them in, admittedly in a ****e league.
But he seems to 'love'putting the ball in the net while wyke appears to have 2 left feet and grigg ( sadly ) is bereft of confidence and enthusiasm despite clearly having all the technique in the world for this level.
We still appear to be blowing hot and cold in midfield . We need at least one player to be turning in an 8 out of 10 every game . Power, maguire and dobson have the ability but not the consistency. Sorry but leadbitter doesnt have the legs or physical presence for this league. He is at best an impact sub to bring on for the last 15 or 20 minutes.
I'm confident PP already has an 8 out of 10 cm player in his sights.
Striker wise. I think we will have to peddle wyke and grigg at a big loss and bring 1 in.
We must have a regular scorer otherwise the playoffs are a pipe dream

Knew Grigg was going to miss last night like.

Still hoping he comes good but doubt it.

Players like grigg really pi55 fans off.
All the talent in the world and well paid
( relatively speaking ) and wearing a shirt we would sell our first born for but they just seem unable to put a shift in.
20-20 hindsight it was a ridiculous transfer.
Selling a free scoring 20 yo and using the proceeds ( and a slab more ) to replace him with an injured ( at the time ) 28 yo striker whose goals had dried up ( certainly at c'ship level ).
I doubt we would get 1m if he was available, more likely a free. 3m plus wages down the pan in under a year.
Then we have the cost of replacing him.
All the work cutting costs is essentially down the pan.
It ranks right up there with n'dong and that big cb ( that moyes brought in ) for utter waste given the league we are in.
    Oh well

Doubt we paid £3m up front for him, but it's still a kick in the face

Most clubs never do but the price was 3-4m ( if we get to premiership lol).
But we owe wigan 3m whether up front or eg over 3 years. Plus his wages.
Anyway you look at it we have done our dosh. I just dont see any club paying anything for a 28/29 yo div 1 striker whose goals have dried up.
Cut and slice it anyway you like.

Well donald has said a lot of things in the past 18 months and has withdrawn into his bunker and resigned from twitter.
Given what the press and wigan have said I find it hard to believe the 1m figure. Given his penchant for flowery spruiking I suspect he has used this figure to try and mitigate the fall out from how abysmal this signing has been given even ross has said donald ( with hill ) were keen to get this deal over the line.
Even 1m is a lot in this league.
Certainly 1m more than both luton and Charlton spent last season.

Just looked back and in the press conference just after the grigg purchase, Donald said ( re reported 4m )
    ' I hope it does reach 4m'
A bit different to 1m plus add ons.
So unsure where you read your 1m plus add ons
