I hope the investment is more than just academy and logistics orientated. I don't think we should be reliant on the current squad to get us out of this division, and if the choice was to put money into the academy and hope for the best on the pitch, or to invest in a couple of key players to secure promotion, and then help the academy side of things later, that would be far, far better use of anyone's funds now.

Scouting and coaching from youth level up has to be high up on their list, we'll I hope it is.

I agree everything revolves around the first team, but the scouting in particular has been shocking for years

Yeah scouting is the worst, but what is most frustrating is that it has gotten worse in the last 18 months. I'm all for investment in the AOL and coaching, but let's be brutally honest here, if we don't go up this year, and have banging youngsters, the likelihood we can get fair value for them is the same as now - very remote.

We need to be back in the Championship. It's really that simple.

Even in the championship we may well lose youngsters, if the new lads can show ambition I would like to think that will help

I take your point mate and its well thought out and well made.

However, as someone who's endured years of abuse from posters and Mods alike, I have to reserve the right to ridicule them.

I've been off RTG, since September, yet the people who apparently wanted to see the back of me are continually on here to see what I have to say.

People like Plank contribute absolutely nothing yet relentlessly snipe away at people who post threads about SAFC ...

... the only reason the website exists.

**** them mate, they're a bunch of sad tossers who continue to prove it day after day.
I pop on there and on here never been a prolific poster but like to read whats being said. There's definitely a different atmosphere over there though and it can be pretty negative at times.

Not been around on here enough to see anything so negative yet.

Here's a good one for you.

A RTG poster who's made virtually no contribution, other than general stupidity, for years has been snooping on here. He's announced to his many admirers ....

"Just had a look and the last couple of pages are nauseating."

Wow, a well known and generally despised RTG troll declaring a decent and harmless board 'nauseating'.

So nauseating I'll guarantee, 100%, he'll be back on here day after sad day of his puerile little life.

If he never posted ever again no one would notice or care ...

... yet sees himself superior enough to criticise people on here.

I hope so too. Suspect its more about keeping cards close to chest or any players we may bring in next January will cost that little bit more.

It's pretty cool on here usually mate.

It's more agitated than usual but the Mods will step in when they're ready.

I've just had, 5 minutes ago, a message regarding the takeover.

The final details are being arranged such as the phrasing of the announcement, terms of reference of those involved and the titles of resident staff.

It's all positive and, as I've said before, nothing can stop it happening.

Haway Sunderland, this could be our time.

In the meantime what on earth happened to that latest Newcastle takeover that was reported recently?

I'm sure they'll do what they can to improve the squad but their hands are tied with the wage bill aren't they. They aren't short of a few quid so I doubt it'll be a choice between signing a couple of cheapish players or developing the long term future of the club.

Is it still FPP?
