Very true. Imagine having to scuttle off as you've proven to be even worseAye well we all know the type of 24 carat ar5e wipe that regularly posts on there don't we?
Nice to see short starting to get some of the plaudits he rightly deserves.
He put in a lot ( wasted?l) of his own money trying to make us a big player but sadly other than BSA ( conversely one of the more unpopular choices of manager ) was the only one who had a clue. BSA has his detractors but when you think what he got for 15m ( Kobe, khazri and kirchoff ) and how they responded to him.
That all 3 were subsequently demonised by moyes was a real pi55er.
If things do get back to where we want ( premier league ) it would be nice to see short back in some capacity.
That’s Peterlee YackerWhat the ****![]()
Don't think anyone doubted the good intentions of Short. And we should be grateful that he paid off the debt rather than let us fall into administration.
Doesn't change the fact he made mistake after mistake and its under his stewardship that we ended up in league 1.
So if he does get back involved (unlikely imo, though I'm not against it) I hope it's as a silent partner and isn't making any decisions.
Imagine if he did and turned up at the SOL for a match.
Wonder what reaction he would get? I don't mind the bloke he made mistakes aye we all do but his intentions we're good and clearing the debt saved us.
Yes it was his fault but I have no bad feelings towards the bloke.
Quite possibly as Ellis Short spends most of his time in Florida as his son of the same name is a tennis player with a lot of potential, the group and Dell invest in Miami Marlins with a 7% stake which doesn’t appear much but the total worth of 1.5 Billion Dollars value for the franchise makes it a hefty investment. I would suggest as fellow successful businessmen their would be a good chance of them meeting and could this have led to the mention of SAFC as Ellis Short still retains a soft spot for the club .He hasnt actually recommended us to the Dell team as he?
That was me and I don't post regularly on there. Just posted what he said last night against a post that suggested the Irish were coming again.Aye well we all know the type of 24 carat ar5e wipe that regularly posts on there don't we?
I think he would get a good reception tbh. In the list of football club owners he is far, far from the worst in that nothing he did was malicious or done without the clubs interests at heart. For me he'll always be remembered as a bloke who wanted to succeed here, who invested a **** load of his own money to try and do so, but who ultimately failed miserably due to a string of dreadful appointments (De Fanti was the most ridiculous because anyone would know that an agent being DoF was likely to fail).
Writing off so much debt meant that you could slightly forgive him for the fall to league one, certainly more than if he'd walked away and left us facing administration and potential bankruptcy, at least he tried in some way to give us a chance to recover from his reign, obviously knew he had failed and was big enough to take most of the hit himself.
If he's now been involved in trying to get these lads on board who have the money and the business knowledge to ensure we should be able to get back to the top flight and maybe even compete there, for me he's certainly done enough to warrant a decent reception if he's interested enough to come back for a game in the future. Like I say, he was a bad owner with hindsight, but not maliciously so and he's tried his best to put it right when others wouldn't have bothered, I certainly wouldn't give him any abuse
Where did the rumours come from that he was advising the Dell people that we would be a good buy?
Not sure tbh mate, might just have been because it would make sense. As another rich American and an ex owner it would make sense for them to contact him, especially if there has been any discussion regarding the hotel. He seems to have a good relationship with Donald and Methven so wouldn't be a surprise if he'd been involved at some stage if there are any discussions about legacy issues. Must admit when it was rumoured that it was close to collapse and it was further rumoured that someone who was a third party was trying to get them back to the table, my first thought was Short
Never had a bad word to say about Short... he got things wrong and he regrets as much. Genuine bloke with his heart in the right place. The whole Short saga makes me think of a load of dodgy care workers knicking money from an old ladies purse and making it look like shes the mad one for asking where her moneys gone...Can you imagine if that was the case, they we're going to pull out only for Short to convince them otherwise.
What a hero if that's true =.
