I was there. We never turned up (as usual), capping it all with Walker’s missed pen. Was also at Stamford Bridge for the 1-3 win. Amazing scenes with the police horses on the pitch. I’ve never been so scared in my life. Bart
Remember "One Shaun Elliott"...was in the seats and the terrace behind the goal looked class, can never see/find any pictures of it since....and as another poster has said, why the f*ck with Ashurst drop West for f*kin Ian Wallace.
He was thinking that because the previous weekend we beat Norwich 3-1 at carrow road and Wallace scored iirc But westy was badly done to having scored three times in the two legged semi final
I was there but have been trying to forget all about it ever since. Same as 92, 98 and this year, what is it about this club that has us all hooked.
Yes I was there this was one of the seven defeats I have seen at Wembley, I wouldn’t care I got off to a great start in 1973 V Leeds . Nobody could believe Colin West wasn’t in the team , he was the semi final hero a big target man who was suited to the side we had at the time . First calamity was David Corner not playing the ball out , losing it and a deflected goal off Gordon Chisholm . Second calamity a gold plated opportunity with a penalty that Clive Walker missed , don’t think he was ever the same player for us after that miss - Just another tale of woe at Wembley .
I think it’s unique to say that safc have scored goals off a beach ball and a police horse on the pitch.
