I was there, didn't go back on terraces after half time just stopped in the concourse watching it on the tv screens getting pissed. Why the **** did he drop Colin West and play Hodgson?
Aye I was there 16 year old on a YTS in Gilley Law butchers. Me dad drive us there and back same day.
Living near Bristol (Little place called Yatton) at the time. Advert in local rag "anyone want tickets contact Gordon Bennet" Thought it was a wind up but turned out he worked for Bristol Rovers. Checked tickets were for S'land end and me and the missus were at Eastville for 10am on the Sunday morning for a bus which had Gordon, 2 Bristol Rovers fans and the rest were exile red and white. Good day except for the result.
That was my first trip to wembley, missed out on 73. I had played against David Corner only three years earlier and I had never seen him trying to be clever for st Thomas aquinas school, when I played against him If only var was around as I always though a Norwich player was offside and unsighted turner for the goal
He was, the point I was making was I remember him walking round the pitch and receiving tremendous applause from SAFC FAns (and before you correct me I know he wasn't playing!!!!!). Also remember Brucey
Yeah what a disaster. I remember sitting in a pub car park before the game with our shirts on and loads of Norwich coaches passing, giving it the thumbs up, fans of all ages, rattles, waving etc family day out, On the ball City ! Then one of our coaches passed, v signs, moonies, beer cans out of the skylight, who you looking at etc. A different world !
