I came across an old video tucked away in my collection.....Sir Stanley Matthews,"Footballs First Super Star"......and making dvds of it.
We rarely, today hear about pre WW2 players. I do know that Spurs were pretty mediocre at that time and for a few seasons after. Tottenham, unlike Arsenal, rarely spent on good players with the result that Arsenal won many trophies while Spurs did not.
Seems football has come around in a circle when you compare Man City's spending with Spurs.City winning many trophies while Spurs have not.
Money definitely speaks!

p.s. I did get to see Sir Stan turning out for Stoke at the Lane at 50 I believe in the mid 1960's and marveled that he could still run,but not too much! But incredible anyway.

My Lord. All those teams in the Welsh Cup today. Didn't think Wales was that big when I drove through it.

Meanwhile, our old neighbours down the other Lane(?) walked off during an FA Cup match v Yeovil. Haringey Borough players being abused by some visitors supporters so the game was abandoned.
I wonder......will the FA award the tie to Haringey? They should!

Surely that was a foul on Origi in the buildup up?

I was massively surprised it wasn’t over turned as VAR usually never misses an excuse to disallow goals

As far as I can see VAR never misses the opportunity to back up the decision of the onfield referee if it is in respect of a foul - only handballs and offsides get given by VAR

Probably should have done. It was a foul even though it was only a slight touch on him. It was also a long way back at the start of the move.
It seems as though they are intent on not wholly undermining refs through VAR.
